Poppa Culture

I'm a journalism student at Macewan and a father of two teenaged daughters who loves most forms of Pop Culture. Comics, movies, TV, pro wrestling, games & more

1. School spirit! A dear pal of mine who is also a parent saw the example I set by coming here and has followed. Macewan literally saved my life when I came here, and it warms my soul to see it help her and her son! #bcsc202 #JoShanghetaa

@nikita_case You and I always seem to be discussing coffee and campus in conjunction :) #Iremember102

District Moto is the place to go for coffee and unique lattes! It's across 107th st. and has everything from 'Brew on Tap' to flavourful lattes like lavender, coconut, pistachio and more.

"It's unique, local and close," says the manager Matt Trodden.

@GinaBennett2010 I brought my daughter to the Open House this weekend and got a tour of that facility. It's very sleek and modern looking, two thumbs up!

2. Favorite watering hole or restaurant near campus: Well, since we're all poor students I knew that many of us would get a kick out of the below pic. Also, always remember the 50% student discount code: UNI. #bcsc202 #JoShanghetaa @dominos

4a. I asked my pal @mariannroberts , a 3rd year Journalism student here at Macewan, how she got her news and if social media helped keep her current. She said "I follow a lot of news outlets on Twitter, so that’s where I tend to get most of my news from." #bcsc202 #JoShanghetaa

#3b. "... It allows us to examine our shared humanity in powerful ways." Thank you @kbiittner for your permission to use the quote :)

#3a. Professor on the 'street'. I use the term lightly, as I asked Dr. Katie Biitner, Assistant Anthropology prof. here at Macewan about the impact of social media. "the greatest impact of social media on society is cross-cultural communication is now instant and accessible..."

Leadership is not about finding ways to defend free speech for Neo-Nazis.
In Alberta, if a child gets on a bus, she shouldn't have to see a swastika on a vest or carved in the seat and definitely not endorsed by UCP candidates running to sit in her legislature.
