🚨HOLY SHIT: Mamdani just called Trump a fascist standing right next to him:
Reporter: “Are affirming that you think Trump is a fascist?”
Trump: “That’s ok, you can just say it.”
Mamdani: Yes.
This is how it’s done!!
@JenaFriedman That’s so Canadian. Whats to be sorry about? Harris filled every arena and every indication pointed to her win. Foreign interference and threats prevented proper voting. Do not concede and fight until the death.
@MayorOliviaChow Can you help save the REVUE, one of Canada's most beloved, non-profit, cultural landmarks? https://t.co/59TrOEgoqB Almost 20k signatures have been added https://t.co/uvT0DalW6d
If not you, WHO can help? Or HOW can I help? @BhutilaKarpoche@viraniarif@gordperks
The @RevueCinema just announced that this weekend will be its last because the landlord refuses to renew the lease. This is a 112 year old cinema. We viewed Grey Gardens there a couple of weeks ago. Now is the time be S-T-A-U-N-C-H. Don’t let this go down without a fight.
That so many people have stepped up with offers to donate funds towards repairs and with the offer of pro bono work from Moriyama Teshima Architects, what better case is there for establishing the Science Centre as a community land trust?
Here is a straight forward, easily implementable five part plan for the Ontario Science Centre. Let’s call it #FuturePlanOSC
1. The Ontario Government wants to abandon the building because it needs repair/magnitude of the disrepair. The Ontario government should gift the building to the City of Toronto for $1. The burden of the building is, then, off their hands. The Province continues to offer the programming and pay for operations. They don’t want the building, fine. But don’t demolish it.
2. We establish an OSC Community Land Trust to take ownership of the land (owned by the City of Toronto today) and the building.
3. Using the $1.5 million already on the table from @adammcnamara and @SabiVM, the immediate repairs begin. We have some time, since the deadline is October. OSC can continue to deliver programs. According to @CdnArch, the exhibit halls can be fully functional during the repair of the roof area (which is something like 2% of the roof). This addresses the next few years.
4. The new OSC Community Land Trust creates a fundraising campaign, on the premise that the City of Toronto and the Government of Ontario match community donations one-for-one (there is precedent for this - the $10 million for the Bentway was contingent on the City of Toronto matching the $10 million. And they did it). Governments need to come to the table - they cannot totally abdicate.
5. In sum, the Government of Ontario gifts the building. City of Toronto gifts the land. Province continues to be responsible for operational costs and programming. The OSC Community Land Trust repairs and invests in the building, and protects it as a heritage site for community use, in perpetuity.
What do you think of this plan?

Olivia Chow is #Toronto's mayor, which is great news!
Did you know she's also a day-to-day, get-to-work bicycle rider?
Massive change for a city whose leaders have done so little to build safe & extensive bicycle infrastructure.

In 2000, Olivia Chow helped to overturn a city-wide ban on raves instituted by then mayor Mel Lastman. As a DJ who sees Toronto's arts and culture scene becoming increasingly unsustainable, maybe there's an inkling of hope that a "Music City" is possible. https://t.co/jCAXbIiBGH
Michel Foucault’s first pride parade was in the company of Olivia Chow and Jack Layton.
It’s a fact that will mean nothing to most of you but some of you will LOVE it 🌈🤓
Artist Sanmu Chan was bundled away by a big group of police and repeated chanted “Do not forget June 4! Do not forget June 4! HongKongers don’t be afraid of them! Do not forget tomorrow is June 4!” One officer shouted “Stop making seditious acts” at him but in vain.
The Toronto Society of Architects calls on the Province of Ontario to listen to the feedback of Ontarians and not only reassess the current redevelopment plans for #OntarioPlace but the public consultation process around it.
