@RickGarnett@davidtorrance@MarkHillKC The laws say no Catholics or Jews, but members of any other religion or none at all are fine, that's the anomaly.
@MonkEmma I believe he ran some marathons. There's strong evidence he was athletic & qualified PE teacher (little evidence of sociology qualifications). I'm sceptical about the fractured leg stuff.
Like all his claims, some truth, but not clear what is genuine and what is embellished.
@dgurdasani1 Questioning mediocre academics getting good jobs they're not qualified for, dubious culture war patronage, people failing upwards? It's a good job Cofnas is white or the progressives would be hounding you right now for such views.
@DAaronovitch The argument for reparations doesn't make sense, it's just layers of special pleading to unsurprisingly benefit the people doing the special pleading.
@labourlewis Do you believe censorship of the positive, unquestioning, docile press coverage he received before the scandal would have stopped the eventual collapse when it did come?
@Twangberry@geri115@rpaton11 When you say 'much of what's been written simply isn't true' does that include claims that originated with Mr Arday? Should journalists not have published questionable or exaggerated claims he made before the scandal? I wonder where you draw the line on what should be reported?
@Frances_Coppola Can you make your point clearer? Is it a racist succeeded exposing scandal because he was racist, where previous efforts scared off by race card?
It's certainly curious that qualified PE teacher with no sociology qualifications becomes prof of sociology at unusually young age.
@kehinde_andrews Grievance studies and grievance entrepreneurship is located directly in the culture wars; you can't choose to be a culture war grifter and then complain.
Serious, rigorous, academic approaches are available.
LJMU need to explain why copied text doesn't constitute plagiarism.
@ifellonithonest@CapelLofft@metaburbia CRT believes empiricism is racist. What nobody seems to twig is fabulism was Arday's 'story' & 'truth'. According to his (and supporters) CRT beliefs, debunking with facts and evidence and empirical reality is racist. It's meant to be circular reasoning and unfalsifiable
@K_Niemietz Insurgent/fringe parties don't have established infrastructure to weed out nutjobs, especially if nutjobs are attracted to insurgency. Reform etc has same problem. The clown show gets attention, some point they need quality control to switch getting attention to being credible.
@GoodLawProject Presumably it needs tightly controlled remit to avoid awkward questioning of progressive racism agenda that put man who appeared to have a personality disorder in a prominent position he wasn't qualified for? Presumably it won't question the role GLP and assorted grifters played?
@K_Niemietz Will only apply to professional grievance entrepreneurs. Protected characteristics are recognised many places in law, theoretically, why shouldn't this be extend to people making professional living rent-seeking from alleged grievances allegedly relating to those characteristics?
@RDesignator@mtaibbi I don't know those other guys, did they have the fabulist backstory of Jason Arday? I mean, I know CRT is supposed to be post-modern, post-truth storytelling, but boy oh boy, he gave it some proper welly.
@CapelLofft Techniques used to scare off people asking awkward questions about professional grievance entrepreneurs are losing their power. If you believe pseudo-progressive grifting should be protected then something needs to be done to shut up people pointing it out.
@whitesundesert Someone might believe fabulist claims are their personal truth, using evidence and logic to disprove them is racist. Why shouldn't PE teacher with no training in sociology be professor of sociology? Why should their claims require evidence? You should just believe their 'story'.
@whitesundesert Critical Race Theory is a belief system. It rejects rational methods in favour of post-modern, post-truth 'storytelling'. Claims are matter of faith, debunking with evidence and logic is racist. It's circular reasoning make its claims unfalsifiable.
@afneil The old taboo based tactics used to scare off people asking awkward questions about grifters have started to fail, so we need laws to stop people asking awkward questions about grifters.
@worstall How many professors holding social science chairs at major universities are actually P.E. teachers with no actual social science qualifications?
