@wilnerhotline Did Idaho prove that some struggling FBS schools are better off in regional FCS leagues? It might make sense at UMass/Temple/Rice , but increase travel costs for New Mexico State/FIU. And if a 24-team CFP kills future paycheck games, does the bottom of FBS even make sense?
@wilnerhotline NDSU & SacSt have future games which were originally scheduled as FCS vs FBS. Will these games get dropped, or will the Oregon schools just add a new FCS foe to their schedules? Sac@OSU'29, NDSU@Oregon'28... UC Davis lurking for UCLA'27'29, WSU'28 in future years too
@wilnerhotline Did the Pac12 & Big West just create the blueprint for the future of Olympic sports? Who benefits most from the soccer partnership: OSU/SDSU/GU getting a stable league, or Cal Poly and UCSD getting Pac12 branding and stronger NCAA pathways?
@wilnerhotline follow up to your NCAA units and the women's tournament--assuming the OSU and GU units (1 each year) stay with WCC from '25 & '26, will that mean $0 from Women's units in 2027 for Pac12? And, could Pac12 be a 2-bid league in womens tournament? And does the 50% split also apply?
@wilnerhotline The new Pac12 baseball looks to be a top5 conference nationally, comparable to ACC & Big12 imo. Are we looking at a 3, 4, or even a 5 game round robin for regular season? Do we assume the baseball season is easier to find non-conf opponents out west compared to other sports?
@wilnerhotline The new Pac-12 is basically letting teams keep 50% of NCAA units ~1.5 shared among 9 schools + HQ. The MW might split 1โ2 full units across 10 members. Does partial retention better incentivize winning, or does equal sharing ultimately build a stronger league?
@wilnerhotline B10 playoff thing was confusing, 16-team for 2 yrs with a play-in element? why not go with 18-teams, have 14 teams on a bye & allow play-in to form the field of 16? With a play-in & 16 teams, the top-2 seeds would suffer a longer layover with essentially a 2 week bye
@wilnerhotline NCAA hoops is increasing to a 32-game regular-season cap, could the new Pac-12โs 16-game conference slate offer a scheduling edgeโparticularly for preseason tournaments and home-and-home agreements with mid-majors and nearby Big Sky, WCC, or Big West programs?
