@mariel_code@ttrauser First of all, congrats on your diagnosis. I was also diagnosed in adulthood and it was such a relief to realize that all my struggles up until then had an explanation. Good luck on your new adventures in learning about coping with (and taking advantage of) ADHD!
I work in Fintech and a lot of what makes my job challenging and gives me recurring headaches is the @CFPB.
So I say this with a lot of real-world experience from both sides of the coin: @SenWarren is a goddamn American hero.
Me, high, watching my wife on her new PS4:
"Ooh, cutscene!"
"What do you think 'only a flesh wound' actually means? Like is that urgent care or ER?"
"10 bucks that guy betrays the party."

On a recent trip to Disney, my 6-year-old asked me how a credit card worked.
Even as I thought "AT LAST MY TIME HAS COME" some bubbles floated from the nearby gift shop and I didn't even make it through the concept of credit.

My wife just told me that I get the same look on my face in the office supplies and stationery aisle as I do when I see a particularly attractive person.
Which is a testament to the trust in both our relationship and my absolute, untreatable nerdiness.
Waterslides are a great metaphor for life.
"Hey, let me make you spend a really long time waiting, then throw you into an uncomfortable position while I jerk you about with little control available and then dump you off in the deep end and be like, 'BEST OF LUCK!'"
I have trouble not giving 6 complete answers to her questions. So today, our topics of conversation included:
- Heat stroke & wet bulb temperature

October 7 and June 8 changed my political outlook forever.
October 7 I watched normie progressive uni students who were my friends celebrate “decolonisation.” While I watched footage of Hamas terrorists beheading a Thai migrant worker while screeching “YAHOOD YAHOOD YAHOOD.”
June 8 I saw the same normie progressives react with utter fury to the joyous sight of 4 rescued hostages. I saw Tweets calling on Hamas to place suicide belts on the remaining hostages get 10,000 likes.
I never realised the extent of psychopathic, obsessive Jew hatred before all of this. Of course I studied the history of the Holocaust and I even visited Auschwitz, but never could I imagine that the same forces of hatred and Nazism would be resurrected in the present day. And that ordinary, normal students I knew personally would celebrate these forces and make them a defining part of their political identity
It’s changed my life forever, I will never forget it, and I will spend the rest of my life opposing it
@mariel_code My kindergartener does mental math about as fast as I do, was doing multiplication, multi-digit addition and subtraction, had memorized perfect squares up to 625 and powers of 2 up to 8192 by the age of 3.
HC private schools are inundated with applicants.
So, we're screwed.
Working as an EM in Fintech, it always strikes me how introducing my ICs to Sarbanes-Oxley feels like being the dad in a 90s family sitcom sitting my kids down for "the talk".
The thing about instincts based on years of experience is that it kind of feels fake / like pulling stuff out of your ass when you apply them, so you don't feel like you've actually added value.
It's just that, well, you have added value because… that ass has seen some shit.
