Just learnt that Berhampore was named after a city in Bengal where the East India company fought a battle, often considered the first decisive victory that kick-started the British Conquest of India.

At some stage NZ really needs to deal with all our colonial place names......

Do u really want to know how your city could transform public transit virtually overnight to dramatically increase ridership? Making transit free MIGHT help but not likely if buses are stuck in car traffic. The answer is to change car lanes to bus-only lanes & increase frequency.

Invented in Rotterdam and spreading nationwide, the fietsvlonder is a “bike platform” that temporarily swaps one car parking space for 10 bikes.

If successful, the curb is permanently adjusted, and it is moved to another location. The Hague Vice Mayor Robert van Asten explains.

@JoJohnson5 For below the knees- a rain skirt- a bit like an apron or wrap around skirt that does not need to wrap all the way around the back. I made one from fabric bought from spotlight that is probably pvc- rain rolls down. Good luck.

@JoJohnson5 Alchemy does a really good raincoat with zip and magnetic domes. It’s light- so you can layer up or down as needed. And it’s quite stylish.
