TLDR: The CFTC said regulated derivatives firms can hold customer funds in tokenized versions of already allowed investments (think tokenized Treasuries, etc.) and can use blockchain for official books and records, as long as the legal/economic rights stay the same. Rules are tech neutral. It’s incremental regulatory clarity, not a new law. Builds on earlier 2025–2026 staff letters after broader crypto legislation stalled. Modestly bullish for tokenization in traditional markets.
