@cdntradegrljenn Glad that this will never become a reality. The further Canada distances itself from the US, the better I feel.
Mark Carney's recent progress with global trade has me feeling like Canada's future is so bright, we're gonna need shades. ๐
@calvinrobinson@elonmusk Christians can't even agree on what that moral compass looks like. What version of that compass would we be putting on @grok? Grok, what do you think of this idea?
@LajiaoPepper I had someone in an online chat tell me I didn't matter the other day. I replied "Thank goodness. Not sure I could handle the pressure of mattering."
They didn't respond after that.
@Hitchslap1 Yes. Morality predates organized religion and arises from empathy, reason, and social cooperation, as seen in secular ethics (e.g., humanism) and evolutionary biology. Religion often codifies it, but it isn't required.
@mchooyah If Christians are right, they'll know forever. But if they're wrong, boy, won't they be in for a shock.
With over 3,000 gods in the world, the chances of any religion being "right" are pretty low. So far, though, most evidence supports the Atheists.
Classic Pascal's Wager.
@RobinRoese@_Science_FTW_ @SonofManwithus This is honestly one of the biggest problems I ran into on my deconstruction journey. For such a supposedly "all-loving" god, he sure does seem to enjoy punishing those who don't just "take his word for it". That doesn't seem particularly all-loving to me.
@ApoloJedi_ If I asked you to tell me something about me, and you don't know me at all, which would be the better approach?
1. Saying you don't know me and trying to get to know me?
2. Basing your perception of me on rumors and making things up to for the info you didn't find?
@NotEvolution1 Atheism has no burden of proof, as we can't prove nonexistence. The burden of proof is on the individual or group who is trying to prove that the thing they purport exists actually exists.
You being unable to prove something cannot be worked around by shifting that burden to us.
@ApoloJedi_ 1. I am an Athiest.
2. No, I do not believe Christians are stupid.
3. Atheism is NOT a worldview!
4. Science is absolutely not devoid of silly claims. We just test them before we make them fact. No magical beings, though.
5. That dude does not speak for all of us.
@RobinRoese@_Science_FTW_ @SonofManwithus Nothing really "turned me away", more than I just started realizing that a lot of things I believed really didn't add up or make sense when I pulled back and looked at the bigger picture of things. For a guy who loves learning, "don't question it" really didn't sit well with me.
@th3siggy@AiG Gladly.
Mars used to be an Earth-like world, but its mass was too small to sustain a magnetic field. Over time, the field grew weaker and eventually stopped altogether. With no magnetic field to protect it, the solar wind blew the atmosphere and all the surface water into space.
