@Jigeumun_ It depends on school of jurisprudence. If your parents followed the Hanafi fiqh, they may have been more permissive. Other schools are more restrictive. The Hanbalis generally forbid it. The Salafis and Wahhabis are the most strict and their ideas have a lot of influence today.
@gracemodermind but some people go through conversion therapy and then live miserably while thinking they're "cured". If you can falsely make someone believe they are cis, you can falsely make someone believe they are trans.
