@irenerabinowitz It's very clear this is not about the Venezuelan people at all. Nor drugs by the way. Fentanyl does not enter the US from Venezuela. It's all about Venezuelan oil.
The US just wants a government that 'takes the right decisions', i.e. gives them access to oil.

@EchelonsHub @LoosDieter Gotta come to Belgium. Cyclist and CX rider fanclubs all over the place. Even for foreign riders like Küng or Mohoric. Even U19 riders have fan clubs that organize dinner parties where you can go & eat to support them.

@thijszonneveld @MatMitchell30 SafeR still has team + rider representatives involved, just not Plugge anymore. Velon is just a subset of (the richest) teams.
So yes, UCI cannot impose a system on teams. But as the governing body they should look at general solutions. Is it fair to impose Velon on other teams?

The other things have nothing to do with your initial statement about testing with 1 rider/team....

@thijszonneveld Mogelijk dat er sommige details pas nu bekend waren, maar het principe van een test met GPS tracker bij één renster/team wisten de teams al een week. Zoals je zelf al aangaf, hebben de teams vooral bezwaar tegen het principe (want concurrentie met Velon) dan tegen het hoe en wat

@53x121 @Ma_Do_Sd @MatMitchell30 Why is that ridiculous? Testing of new systems with a small group is very common. You'll need to improve the system so a full blown roll out would highly increase costs. The one rider/team is not the real reason why teams oppose to it

@thijszonneveld Thijs, laten we wel wezen: het ging niet om nieuwe regels, maar om een test samen met SafeR, die wel degelijk al langer geleden aangekondigd was - stond meer dan een week geleden al in de pers. Het is een commercieel dispuut met een aantal teams die andere belangen hebben.

@thijszonneveld @MatMitchell30 They just don't want to test with the system selected by the UCI (and SafeR, which also has team representatives) because of Velon. Then say so.

@thijszonneveld @MatMitchell30 If he is missing the point, than that's probably because Vaughters and the other teams are not making that point in their communication. They are on about 'discriminating' one rider in a test setup (it is still a test after all, no new rule yet), while there is no disadvantage
