This year’s @NorthtownNews student exchange focused on our IB Program. We loved hosting Sumner Academy students/staff two weeks ago and visiting them yesterday. What a great learning opportunity between two great schools! #IBNKC 💜💛🐝

Feeling deeply is both a blessing and a burden, especially for those who naturally absorb the world's pain. It’s like your heart is wide open, and you can’t help but take in not just the beauty, but also the immense suffering around you. It’s overwhelming, because every bit of that pain—whether it’s human suffering or the plight of animals—feels personal, like it’s yours to carry.

What makes it even heavier is that sense of helplessness, knowing you can’t fix everything. The empathic heart wants to heal, to comfort, to change things, but the weight of how much hurt exists can feel unbearable at times. And yet, that ability to feel so deeply is also a profound gift. It’s a reminder of your connection to the world, your capacity for love, compassion, and understanding. Even though you can’t heal it all, the love you bring into the world matters. Your empathy is a light in the darkness, even when it feels like the darkness is too vast to conquer.
