@__apf__ Find out what city ordinance this supposedly violates. Someone complained is not a reason for removal. Talk to the City and see if there’s a way to meet their rules while keeping the bench. This is an area that you maintain. You control what happens there, within the City’s rules
@nienna121 My daughter’s 20, but years ago, I was that struggling mom except with an autistic toddler who had lots of sensory issues. I was judged constantly for my “badly behaved kid.” It was the few people who offered help that got me through that difficult time. It made me cry then & now
@DavidAndrewsRSP@AmySFLutz@Nature I asked both you and @AmySFLutz if you’ve seen RPM in person because the “facilitator” is usually a parent. No parent is going to make up fake communication with their nonverbal child. There is literally no point. Hurling insults at me won’t change that fact
@DavidAndrewsRSP@AmySFLutz@Nature Because if an autistic individual has capacity to touch buttons on an AAC device, then it’s no different from touching letters on a letter board. Scream all you want, but the physical motion is the same. Just a hand, reaching out, and touching, independent of anyone else
@DavidAndrewsRSP@AmySFLutz@Nature No, I don’t facilitate, but unlike you, I’ve at least seen RPM done. I guess my question to you and @AmySFLutz is why such hostility to something with which you have little to no direct experience? Is it financial? Reputation? Employment?
@DavidAndrewsRSP@AmySFLutz@Nature Go ahead, show the world who you are. I’ll keep laughing. You clearly don’t have that strong of an argument if you rely on insults. And by the way, I don’t know who you think I am, but I’m verbal & neurotypical. Perfectly capable of communicating for myself
@DavidAndrewsRSP@AmySFLutz@Nature You macho types always resort to a penis insult. I will clarify, since you are clearly struggling to understand. When using an AAC device that relies on pictures, the nonverbal individual points to or touches their choice, yes?
@DavidAndrewsRSP@AmySFLutz@Nature They are not the same thing, and you calling it that doesn’t make it so. You didn’t answer my question, so I’ll assume it’s a no. Meaning you have no firsthand knowledge of what you’re professing to be an “expert” on.
@DavidAndrewsRSP@AmySFLutz@Nature David, this article is about FC. Have you ever seen anyone communicate using RPM? Because they are different things. Just like football and rugby are different. Share some traits. Different in other ways.
@AmySFLutz I disagree. There have been no studies on RPM or STC. There’s some research on FC, but I’d argue it’s about as good as everything else. Meaning not good at all. And even if it was, FC is not the same thing as RPM or STC. And why do you care anyway?
@AmySFLutz Lol. The whole point of the article was that even “proven” therapies like ABA relied on junk science. And yet you insist that therapies like FC or RPM are somehow discredited by science?

@patriottakes So if you adopt a child that makes you a fake parent in her eyes? I’d rather be a “fake” mom to my daughter than an ignorant, intolerant person like her
