The Trump Administration has set up a website to report complaints of equity and inclusiveness being thrust upon parents. Please whatever you do, do not SPAM https://t.co/1n19kSmIdi
We're joining with 120+ organizations to raise concerns about the impact on NYC students of the Governor's proposed changes to the Foundation Aid per pupil formula. Read the Coalition for Equitable Education Funding's state education budget testimony:

In light of recent news, we want to make sure New Yorkers know *nothing* has changed in NYC. Schools must use a student’s chosen name & pronouns; students have the right to use restrooms & participate in sports in accordance with their gender identity. https://t.co/bztX5HA3fr
Since 2011 ICE has policy that agents should not arrest near “sensitive locations,” including schools, hospitals and places of worship, but Project 2025 calls for rescinding that guidance. Many children are terrified & school admins worried. https://t.co/AnfgZVnA7O
City Hall is changing its policy of moving migrant families every 60 days, to allow those with kids in K-6grades to stay 120 days. Says it will save "hundreds of thousands" of $ spent busing kids to their schools - which MANY people warned would happen as a result of this policy
I’m calling on @UFT and @DOEChancellor leadership to deal w/ potential mass deportations at our schools. We need a strong statement that we believe our schools grounds should be a safe space. Rapid response teams to deal w/ trauma, chronic absenteeism and/or ICE at our schools.
As of yesterday, I have decided to resign from my role as a columnist for The Washington Post — a newspaper that I love. In a moment like this, everyone needs to make their own decisions. This is the reasonfor mine. 🧵
Big news coming out of the @UFT Retiree Teachers Chapter meeting held at 52 Broadway!
The reso written by the late James Eterno @jameseterno1 & @DanielAlicea calling for members to be able to vote on major changes to our healthcare benefits passed with nearly 75% voting FOR this measure.
We hope to see it go before the Delegate Assembly.
Over 11k UFT members have already signed a petition asking for a referendum vote on this matter.
Also, Marianne Pizzitola of @NycRetirees was invited to this meeting to speak about the pending lawsuits to stop the City and MLC from forcing retirees into an inferior, predatory Medicare Advantage plan — designed by Michael Mulgrew and dubbed Mulgrewcare.
Momentous. Long live the memory of the great unionist, James Eterno.

In the face of @NYSEDNews report, NYS Legislature voted to approve #MayoralControl anyway. So I'm not impressed with the increasingly long line of State politicians calling for @NYCMayor to resign, when y'all contributed to the controversy & chaos swirling around @NYCSchools.
Y’all, this timeline on resignations for @NYCSchools is killing me. We need to do the work and meet the moment… and it is time to END MAYORAL CONTROL.
I sat on the PEP for 2.5 yrs. I was nominated for chair by the Senate. Although I knew it would be a losing battle (1/n)
I have been often criticized b/c I will ALWAYS come to the table. No matter who you are or what you have done as long as it is at the service of children and communities.
People that know me well know that I do not compromise my values even in difficult situations. (1/n)
First and foremost, this is a sad day for New Yorkers. Trust in public institutions — especially City Hall — is essential for our local democracy to function and for our city to flourish. The hardworking people of New York City deserve a city government and leadership they can trust. Right now, they don’t have it.
Mayor Adams, like all New Yorkers, deserves due process, the presumption of innocence, and his day in court. However, it is clear that defending himself against serious federal charges will require a significant amount of the time and attention needed to govern this great city.
The most appropriate path forward is for him to step down so that New York City can get the full focus its leadership demands.
At this urgent moment, the City’s leaders must focus on how we can best enable steady governance so that New York City can move forward and thrive. As the comptroller of the city, I will do everything I can to help ensure this happens.
For the decades that everyone screamed how local school boards was filled with corruption…how is mayoral control going these days? 🤔🤔 If we are using that example, where’s the outrage to abolish that office?
