Bungie Reportedly Considered Relaunching Destiny 2 as “Destiny Infinity”

A recent report from Forbes claims that Bungie considered relaunching Destiny 2 under the new name “Destiny Infinity” instead of developing a full Destiny 3.

According to the report, the idea was to refresh and rebrand Destiny 2 while preserving the existing game and player base.

The concept would have provided a major reset for the game’s direction, with larger expansions and significant changes to the overall experience.

However, the project was never approved and remained an internal discussion.

People think Sony are the problem but it was Bungie that decided to fund multiple games after the Activision split using Destiny 2 revenue. If it wasn't for D2, Marathon would not have exisited at all, simple. Instead of building D3, Bungie invested in replacing Destiny entirely.

If Sony has no interest in developing Destiny 3, it should consider selling the franchise to XBOX so Destiny can have a future. There’s little value in letting a major franchise sit unused when another platform holder could invest in its growth and keep the game alive.
