Ended the week with a sweet visit to Gale Woods Farm with my colleague Cmsr. Anderson. It’s a farm with public education at its root. It’s a great time to check out their workshops, programs and field trips for in-season farm activities! Still not over my time with Finnsheep🐑
The MN Delegation at the @NACoTweets annual #NACoLeg conference last night was high energy, and I was proud to report on the work accomplished at the Environment, Energy & Land Use Steering Committee. Thanks to my @Hennepin colleagues and our county neighbors across MN. 🌱 🔋 ⚡
Today our Board began the year’s business with the swearing in of Commissioners Edelson, Lunde, Anderson and Goettel. Congratulations to our colleagues 🎉 Onward to a productive year.
I spent some time this week at the SKB Rosemount disposal facility. This landfill site is where all of the ash from the HERC goes to be sorted and buried. As a policymaker rethinking the solid waste ecosystem, we need to see every step of it.
@NancyReynolds89@GovTimWalz@MayorFrey Thanks for taking the time to talk a few weeks ago! I voted against the 50% raise (for obvious reasons!) I then helped make sure that the new proposal was in line with what employees have gotten for the last 6 years.
My goal is to make sure that if we are going to look at Commissioner compensation, that it is done in the context of reasonable cost of living increases that have historically been provided to our employees. Thank you to everyone who reached out to me to share your thoughts. 2/2
At today’s board meeting, the proposal to increase Commissioner salary by 49% was withdrawn from the agenda. I’m thankful that this proposal was removed for further consideration. In order to be transparent, I want everyone to know where I stand on this issue. 1/2
@Hennepin is ready for Earth Day! How about you? There's nothing quite like giving back to our communities, so find an Earth Day event near you: https://t.co/6CuJbAmMHT
I am deeply saddened to hear about this incident. My thoughts are with the deputies who were injured, their families, and the law enforcement community.
#Breaking: An exchange of gunfire in a Minnetonka neighborhood late Wednesday morning left an officer wounded, a city spokesman said. https://t.co/AnQYcUPO0h
The free program is all part of Waters Off, a community service program that provides free plumbing repairs and inspections to hopefully lower water bills and promote water conservation. https://t.co/dUocetUyK8
A marvelous article about what @Hennepin is doing to support people experiencing chronic unsheltered homelessness, & their journey to stable housing. Very timely given that I was just in DC with @D7_Anderson & @HennepinDebbie talking about this very work. https://t.co/MQt7P9OEjq
Congratulations on your well-deserved retirement, Dr. Palchick! Thank you for expertly leading Hennepin County through a myriad of public health decisions over your 25+ years with the county.
