There has never been and there never will be such a thing as a gay Christian, or a lesbian Christian, or a transgender Christian, or a bisexual Christian, or a fornicating Christian, or any other sin you want to attach to the name Christian. These are sins. Repent.
Roman Catholics and Eastern Orthodox often argue: if Protestants accept the Nicene Creed (which affirms the Trinity), we must accept all the ecumenical councils to stay consistent.
But the Trinity is crystal clear in Scripture itself. The Creed was a necessary response to Arianism at the time. We accept the Nicene Creed *because* it aligns with Scripture.
Sola Scriptura is the safeguard that keeps us anchored in God's revealed truth instead of drifting into extra-biblical traditions.
Protestants don't reject the early church, which God used to write and preserve Scripture.
We reject the apostate institutions that eventually drifted away from Scripture and the Gospel and added their own man-made traditions as conscience-binding dogmas.
My personal view, Catholicism does date back to the apostles and Paul called this sect out as being wrong yet they resisted correction.
Just because you can date yourselves back to the apostles does not mean you didn't fall into false teaching. The pride that you're infallible and scriptures are secondary only makes salvation difficult, if not impossible.
Catholicism doesn't offer any gospel "good news".
It's, in fact, a sin to believe you're saved in Catholicism and you must forever fear for your salvation.
🚨‼️The issue isn’t whether I “believe more” than Catholics. The issue is what I believe and why I believe it.
A Catholic can believe in the virgin birth, the deity of Christ, the resurrection, angels, miracles, and even the Trinity. The question is: What must a man do to be saved?
The Apostle Paul answered that question plainly: “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved” (Acts 16:31).
When a system adds sacraments, penance, confession to a priest, purgatory, Marian devotion, or church authority as necessary channels of grace, it has moved beyond what Paul preached.
I don’t reject Catholicism because it believes too much. I reject the parts that contradict Scripture. Salvation is not Christ plus a church. It is not Christ plus rituals. It is not Christ plus works.
“For by grace are ye saved through faith… not of works” (Ephesians 2:8-9).
The real question is not, “Do you believe more than Catholics?”
The real question is: When Scripture and tradition disagree, which one gets the final authority? For me, the answer is the Word of God.
You're free to believe whatever you want about Mary.
The problem is that the Roman Catholic Church makes belief in the Marian dogmas binding - a person must accept them to be saved. But most of these dogmas have no clear scriptural support.
It actually does matter that they're not in Scripture, because it shows they weren't important enough for God to preserve as required belief for His people today.
*That* is the issue.
