@DaleJohnsonBBC How much time will the new rules on goal kicks and throw-ins save? The data suggests timewasting from goal kicks and throw-ins is much less than you’d expect: less than one minute combined across the match: https://t.co/oJ99P4R3Hc

@HKhaliqueLoonat@TimesSport Love this! Just looked at a similar question using Statsbomb data, article here: https://t.co/oJ99P4R3Hc
Also found everyone does it. But timewasting specifically to run down the clock while ahead was only a minute per match from throwins and goal kicks combined, on average.
Whilst referees are surprisingly lenient, there is no evidence they are more lenient towards home teams than away teams (unlike referee's home bias in yellow card decisions: https://t.co/VdsWRoruuM)
Doing so, I find no evidence of large hot hand effects in the Premier League. However, my sample size is very small, and the analysis should be replicated using datasets from more leagues and seasons
You don’t get to stoke the fire at the beginning of the tournament by labelling our anti-racism message as ‘Gesture Politics’ & then pretend to be disgusted when the very thing we’re campaigning against, happens.
@GraceOnFootball Agree we should factor in changes in the type of shots players take in hot hand studies, though (in case it’s of interest!) I didn’t find evidence that in general players take more speculative shots after scoring: https://t.co/j547vKLRou
