I’m proud to share my campaign’s first television ad of 2025.
I was raised right here in Virginia Beach by my mom, a teacher, and my dad, a firefighter. From them, I learned the value of service and community at an early age.
That commitment has shaped my entire life, from raising my hand to serve in the Air Force before 9/11 at the age of 17, to leading medical and IT teams around the world, and then coming home to raise my hand again to serve as your Delegate.
Virginia Beach is facing rising costs, challenges to our schools, economic inequity, and a recurrent flooding risk. I bring both lived experience and proven leadership to address these issues.
I’ll continue to fight to make our city more affordable, inclusive, and resilient.

Over the long term, we shouldn’t have political gerrymandering in America, just a fair fight between Republicans and Democrats based on who’s got better ideas. But since Texas is taking direction from a partisan White House and gerrymandering in the middle of a decade to try and maintain the House despite their unpopular policies, I have tremendous respect for how Governor Newsom has approached this. He’s put forward a smart, measured approach in California, designed to address a very particular problem at a very particular moment in time.
My team surprised me with a card full of thoughtful messages for my birthday!
I’m so grateful for the birthday wishes — and for the work we’re doing to put Virginians first.
The Trump Administration's reckless trade policies have harmed Virginia's economy for months.
And today, Trump's 35% tariff on imports from Canada — Virginia's largest trading partner — is effectively another tax hike on Virginia families and businesses. These tariffs are doing nothing to make life more affordable.
While Virginia families, farmers, and businesses face uncertainty, the Youngkin-Sears Administration refuses to stand up for them — instead, they're cheering on these tax hikes.
Virginians deserve a Governor who will put them first, no matter who is in the White House.
That's why I have real plans to find new markets for Virginia exports, protect Virginia agriculture, and increase our trade opportunities — plans that I'll work to implement on day one as Governor.
GREAT energy at the Dale City Fourth of July Parade with Prince William County Democratic Committee and our amazing statewide ticket, Abigail Spanberger, Ghazala Hashmi, and Jay Jones!Always love celebrating the fourth at this annual parade, with this tremendous community! 🇺🇸
Trump's so-called "Big Beautiful Bill" is now headed to his desk to be signed into law. This legislation will punish Virginians in many ways — here's how:
Today, House Republicans passed a cruel and immoral tax and budget scheme that prioritizes billionaires over working people and puts the health, safety, and economic security of Virginians at risk. 🧵
Republicans in Congress have voted to devastate millions of people across our nation — kicking Americans off their health care, shuttering hospitals, eliminating food assistance, and raising costs.
This is Project 2025 in action.
Disgraceful. Shameful. And worst of all, they’ll try to justify stripping 300,000+ Virginians of healthcare coverage.
But we won’t let them forget the promises they broke. We will remind them of this every single day until they are voted out of office on November 3, 2026.
This is an ugly bill-cruel, reckless, and deeply out of touch with the needs of everyday Americans. This isn’t just bad policy-it’s a betrayal. And every member of Congress who voted for this should be ashamed. Baltimore won’t forget.
I am appalled that the President of the University of Virginia was forced to resign under pressure from the Trump administration. This is a deeply troubling intrusion into the autonomy of one of our nation’s premier institutions of higher learning.
The resignation of President Jim Ryan is a loss for the University of Virginia and the Commonwealth. That the president of a top-ranked, thriving public university would be pressured to resign by the Department of Justice — in order to avoid further harm and harassment from the Trump Administration — is a clear infringement upon academic freedom and should concern every Virginian and American.
As an alumna of the University of Virginia, I am deeply saddened to see our Governor, his Administration, and so many members of the Board of Visitors remain silent in the face of these attacks on the integrity and independence of the University of Virginia.
As Governor, I will take decisive steps to ensure that all of our Commonwealth’s Boards of Visitors are composed of individuals committed to the mission of serving and strengthening our public colleges and universities. I will work to restore a standard of leadership that puts academic excellence, Virginia’s students, and the strength of Virginia’s public colleges and universities ahead of any political agenda.
When Pres. Ryan heard I was going to HLS, he invited me to his office to talk about law school and navigating Harvard.
Today UVA lost a president who cared deeply for the institution and its students, and for that the Commonwealth is not better off.
Congratulations to @SenatorHashmi and @jonesjay on their nominations to serve as Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General!
From now until November, we are going to work hard to earn Virginians’ trust — and their votes — in this election as one united Democratic ticket.
