King Æthelstan – The First King of England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

On this day, 27th October 939, King Æthelstan died at Gloucester. Grandson of Alfred the Great. Unifier of England. The first king to rule all the English under one crown.

Before Æthelstan, England was a land of rival kingdoms, divided by centuries of warfare and Viking conquest. In 927, he brought Northumbria under his rule, uniting the English kingdoms and laying the foundations of a united England. In 937, at the Battle of Brunanburh, he crushed a powerful alliance of Scots, Vikings and Britons, securing his kingdom against those who sought to tear it apart.

A Christian king, Æthelstan strengthened the Church, upheld the law and demanded loyalty, discipline and duty from those he governed. His reign established England as one of the great powers of early medieval Europe.

Yet Æthelstan is too often forgotten. He was the king who united England, defended its independence and secured the inheritance of generations to come. A king who built rather than destroyed. Who united rather than divided. Who put his kingdom before himself.

Remember Æthelstan today. Remember the men who built England, defended her and handed her down to us. Remember what it means to be English. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

@Englishremnant @AngloRestore Exactly. I think they’re great when they’re in their own homelands and turning it into Wakanda or whatever. The farther away the better.

English people need to start treating other English folk as their family because that’s exactly what we are! Look out for them & support one another.

“Be radical, have principles, be absolute, be that which the bourgeoisie calls an extremist: give yourself without counting or calculating, don't accept what they call ‘the reality of life' and act in such a way that you won't be accepted by that kind of ‘life', never abandon the principle of struggle.”

When you read English history, you are reading your own family history. These are your people. This is your land. You are not the guest. You are here by inheritance and continuation. You are the bloodline carried forward. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

"It is not just that we are working for ourselves instead of for strangers which makes our work purposeful.
Our community is a religious community, and our religion is one which requires us to relate each thing we do, in work or study or play, to a single, all-important purpose. George Bernard Shaw described that single purpose as service of the Life Force in Its quest to know Itself. We sometimes speak of it in Nietzschean terms as preparing the way for Higher Man, and sometimes in more eschatological terms as advancing along the never-ending path of the Creator's self-realization. In any case, it has the effect of keeping us much more conscious of why we do things, as well as influencing our choice of things to do."

"At the bottom of everything is a strong sense of race. And one of the essential elements in all vital sense of race is an awareness of solidarity, which in turn depends on homogeneity. All profoundly significant and creative peoples have been guided and spurred and lifted by a profound belief in themselves. And “belief in themselves” means a confidence in what they are as a collectivity and in what they can do when they all act together."
