Single crewing is a very quick way to break cops, which means a worse service to the public in the long run. Problem is, the immediate uptick of stats benefits senior leaders, who, when the inevitable crisis happens, have since moved on.

There’s been a lot of noise around the recent Police Federation comms about “testing” new recruits. Some of the language used has been unhelpful and, frankly, derogatory. It risks dragging the conversation away from where it should be.
A 🧵 if I may ….
Two Gloucestershire women who helped save a stabbed police officer have been honoured at the Police Public Bravery Awards last night. Elizabeth Powell won gold, Marion Balaam silver. @ChrisNelsonPCC attended to thank them for their courage. #BraveryAwards
The Commissioner has spoken about the “broken” police accountability system after the misconduct case against Met firearms officer W80 was dismissed – following an extraordinary 10 years of “legal madness”.

Standing together this #hatecrimeawarenessweek the PCC @ChrisNelsonPCC says he's supporting the campaign as "there needs to be more love and tolerance in the world." No one should be victimised for who they are.
This is, without doubt, one of the best police articles I've ever read. It lays bare the world of Met response. It should be compulsory reading for the Met's SLT, the police hating media, ex-cops who rubbish the current generation & the legions of anonymous keyboard cowards. https://t.co/oM6DjQw94z

I enjoy a good party and dance as much as anyone. But public celebrations should never come at any cost.
It is concerning that for an event as iconic as the Notting Hill Carnival, the threshold for calling it a “success” is so low that 423 arrests (including 46 for offensive weapons, 32 assault of a police officer and 18 for sexual offences) and two stabbings are seen as a relief.
This follows last year’s tragedies, which included two murders and 18 stabbings—and that’s despite more than 100 pre-event arrests by the Metropolitan Police this year!
We need to ask ourselves: what level of violence or disorder are we prepared to accept as part of public events—whether it’s Carnival, music festivals, sports events, or any other large gathering?
I have genuine sympathy for the organisers, but I don’t believe the current situation is sustainable. There has been a stark shift in societal norms and values, and we cannot ignore it.
Finally, credit must go to the police officers, private security staff, and all frontline teams who worked hard to keep people safe this year. Thank you for your work.
“We’re never off duty”
Off duty Met officer PC Attwood was stabbed multiple times intervening to stop two armed criminals in Luton town centre.
In this video, he and @BedsPolice DCC Dan Vazjovic reflect on that day and what it means to serve.
