@GrantPaulsen Which is still below the salary floor the players have proposed. When we go into this labor stoppage and the players talk about teams unwilling to compete and only caring about maximizing franchise value I want you to picture the Lerners
@GrantPaulsen I don’t get you. It’s fine if we trade CJ this offseason if that’s “the plan”? What is the plan Grant? Do you get that we are as much of the labor problem as the Mets and Dodgers because we won’t even spend a minimum reasonable amount on anyone ?
@GrantPaulsen It’s just absurd that the orioles spend $165M and we spend $92M. Call it out. Everyday. It’s great if we’re gonna operate like a team that acquires and develops talent, now build a team with at least a middle road payroll
@GrantPaulsen This is not fully binary and often presented as a false choice. You can do things to make people want to stay like pay them early, build a winner, treat them great and also you can invest to win while they’re here. Boatload of assets is language that also means 3 years away
@GrantPaulsen We can agree that we’re seeing some good things from the “new regime” and that they might be doing a good job at what they were brought in for. Don’t allow that to cloud ownerships end of the bargain
@GrantPaulsen What I want from our media is some demanding and holding feet to the fire to build a winner. Not constant sell for prospects 2 years early talk. That’s Wizards stuff
@GrantPaulsen Yeah ok. I think then saying oh well we offerred Bryce or Soto x and y is irrelevant PR stuff. I can swallow it if they weren’t gonna stay because we weren’t gonna pay open market prices. So you know what, build winners around them until the last moment at some point
@videnieks@GrantPaulsen We had the Lerners on the ropes, they indicated interest in selling and nothing happened and the media hardly covered it. What do they have to do to show you they have no intent to compete. Huge respect to whar this years team is doing so far. Invest
@videnieks@GrantPaulsen We literally spend like $40M under the proposed floor and are the problem that’s gonna lead to labor stoppage. Where’s that talk? Oh but it’s not our fault that guys leave.
@GrantPaulsen I just can’t with the “Thank you sir, may i have another” bowing to the Lerners. There won’t be any fans left if they keep dumping young stars. Respectfully, this text from our Nats group chat says it all - but hey, good radio engagement.
