Water security in India is increasingly a question of institutions, not just infrastructure.

A new case study of Gujarat's reforms (2001-2026) argues that political prioritisation, sustained financing, cross-government partnerships and community ownership mattered as much as hardware. Context shapes what transfers, but the question travels: are the institutions in place to keep water flowing after the taps are installed?

The Thames in London was once declared biologically dead. Today, it supports more than 115 species of fish, 92 species of birds and even sharks.

What changed? Decades of sustained action to control what entered the river.

India is now facing a similar administrative challenge around Ganesh Visarjan. Across districts, authorities are moving beyond crowd management, creating artificial immersion ponds, regulating idol materials, collecting nirmalya and strengthening post-immersion clean-up.

Yet Indian consumers continue to pay a significant premium for iPhones. As localisation deepens, a bigger question emerges: how much of the gains from India’s growing electronics ecosystem reach the consumer?

Indian hockey deserves better. 🏑🇮🇳

The World Cup saw the jersey controversy. Now, just ahead of the Asian Games, another controversy has emerged.

At a time when our players are training relentlessly and need complete focus and confidence, internal matters of Hockey India are being taken to the media. More troubling is the alleged bypassing of the Executive Committee and established governance norms.

With Hockey India elections around the corner, such unilateral actions and media pressure raise serious questions about the intent and timing. Governance is meant to strengthen institutions, not create turbulence around major tournaments.

The Executive Committee exists for a reason. Decisions affecting Indian hockey must follow due process, collective responsibility and the organisation’s bylaws.

Let our players focus on the game. Keep the politics out.

Delhi Police bans drones ahead of BRICS Summit

The Delhi Police has imposed a temporary ban on the operation of drones and other small aerial platforms across the national capital from September 10 to 14, ahead of the 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit scheduled for September 12-13 at Bharat Mandapam.

The order has been issued by Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, as part of heightened security arrangements for the summit. Delhi Police had already directed neighbouring states to intensify border checks and maintain close surveillance of drones and other flying objects.

The wider security operation includes anti-drone systems, extensive surveillance and the deployment of thousands of security personnel as Delhi prepares to host several visiting heads of government, including leaders from China, Russia and Iran.
