Grand Showcase by GIL at Indian Defence Exhibition

Indian Defence Industry Equipment Display Exhibition Inaugurated Today in Shillong.

Gliders India Limited (GIL), Kanpur a prestigious Defence Public Sector Undertaking (DPSU) of the country grandly showcased its products at the Indian Defence Industry Equipment Display Exhibition. The exhibition is being held as part of 'Exercise Pragati-I 2026', a major defence event that commenced today in Umroi (Shillong), Meghalaya.

​Great enthusiasm was witnessed among visitors for products such as the Pilot and Brake Parachute Sukhoi-30, MCPS, Heavy Drop Parachute, HAP, PTA-M, PTA-R and the Multi-Purpose Poncho Bivouac. The exhibition highlights India's indigenous military equipment and innovations under the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' (Self-Reliant India) initiative to foreign defence delegations.

​The exhibition was inaugurated by Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, Vice Chief of the Army Staff (VCOAS) of the Indian Army. He was accompanied by 12 Deputy Chiefs of Army from the countries participating in ‘Exercise Pragati’.

​The GIL team was led by Additional General Manager Mr. Anurag Yadav and Manager Mr. Praveen Chandra.

'Strengthening healthcare through CSR initiatives'

Gliders India Limited organized CSR FY 2025–26 event for handing over of ambulance to the Office of CMO, Kanpur. The ambulance was handed over by CMD GIL, Shri M. C. Balasubramaniam in the presence of Shri Stephen PD, CEO, Cantt. Kanpur and received by Dr. R P Mishra, ACMO, Kanpur.

GIL is a socially responsible organisation committed towards community welfare.

GIL ,Kanpur and IRMRI,Thane have signed an MoU for innovation in advanced rubber and polymer materials for defence and industrial applications.
The collaboration will focus on joint R&D, new material and product development, testing & certification, process optimization, and technology transfer. It also includes pilot studies, prototype development, and shared access to advanced laboratory facilities.
This partnership strengthens the push for indigenisation, import substitution, and alignment with national manufacturing priorities, while promoting skill development, knowledge exchange, and industry-ready solutions.

Gliders India Limited (GIL) Showcases Advanced Defence Innovations at National Defence Industries Conclave 2026

Gliders India Limited (GIL), Kanpur, a premier Defence Public Sector Undertaking (DPSU), marked a significant presence today at the National Defence Industries Conclave (NDIC) 2026. Inaugurated by the Honourable Raksha Mantri, Shri Rajnath Singh, at the Manekshaw Centre, the two-day event highlights the theme ‘Advanced Manufacturing Technologies.’

Speaking at the thematic session "MSME weaving strength into soldier protection and Parachute" of the conclave, Shri M.C. Balasubramaniam, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of GIL, reaffirmed the organization’s dedication to technological excellence. "GIL remains steadfastly committed to integrating cutting-edge manufacturing techniques and pioneering innovations to bolster India’s defence capabilities". He stated that the NDIC, organized by the Department of Defence Production (DDP), serves as a strategic forum for policy dialogue, innovation, and supply chain optimization.

Key highlights of GIL’s participation include:

Product Showcase: GIL’s specialized parachutes and diverse product range emerged as a major center of attraction for delegates and technical experts.

Technological Focus: In line with the conclave’s theme, GIL is prioritizing the adoption of Automation, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics, Additive Manufacturing, and Digital Twins.

Strengthening Ecosystems:
A core objective of the event is to integrate MSMEs and startups more deeply into the national defence manufacturing framework, fostering a robust ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat.’

Fostering Collaboration and Growth:
The conclave has successfully brought together a diverse spectrum of stakeholders, including DPSUs, private sectors, policymakers, and academic institutions. A significant emphasis has been placed on Industry-Academia partnerships and encouraging non-defence companies, especially MSME, to explore the growing opportunities within the defence sector.
This initiative is a vital step toward enhancing India’s global competitiveness and technical prowess in the evolving landscape of modern warfare and manufacturing.

Gliders India Limited successfully produced Air Droppable Container “ADC-150” with its design partner DRDO. Indigenously designed and produced by GIL “ADC-150” is capable of air dropping 150 Kg of load in deep sea. The successful trials have been conducted from the aircraft of Indian Navy off the coast of Goa during last week of Feb 26. This will enhance the operational capabilities of Indian Navy by substantially augmenting its logistics response capabilities.

1st Live Jumps of Advanced Parachute System Manufactured by GIL

Gliders India Limited (GIL) has created history by producing a state-of-the-art, highly advanced Parachute System in collaboration with its design partner ADRDE.
Two of these parachute systems, duly inspected by DGAQA and certified by CEMILAC (RCMA Kanpur), put to First Live Jumps on 20 Feb 2026 at Malpura Drop Zone, Agra.
Project team from ADRDE, Representatives of GIL, DGAQA Kanpur and officials of IAF were also present during conduct of live jumps.
Wg Cdr Rahul Jha, Chief Test Jumper and MWO R J Singh, Test Jumper from ADRDE undertook these jumps in high altitude mode confirming its tactical employability in high altitude terrain thus enhancing operational capabilities of our airborne forces exponentially.
This versatile advance parachute system offers multiple mode of deployment giving it a wide range of operational altitude. This successful project will give impetus to efforts of GIL under able leadership of Sri M. C. Balasubramaniam CMD/GIL to provide safe and comfortable solutions to the requirements of Armed Forces of India on priority.
