And this is why we need to be very careful about HOW we provide reading support, particularly for older kids who have carried that label for a long time. We can acknowledge that reading is an important skill while also recognizing it is only one piece of a child’s identity.
Appreciated conversations & thinking through disciplinary writing in CGC1D @GLRobertsCVI to develop and model an explicit mini lesson to help students with the writing portion of their summative project. https://t.co/qniwb5S2uc
I spent a morning @durhamcollege this week & some takeaways about writing/assessments were:

2️⃣Lots of assignments involving multimodalities (infographics, podcasts…)
3️⃣Lots of new types of assignments popping up all the time

I got explicit instruction in learning to drive. However, my experience of learning was shaped by being able to choose:
✔️ which of my parents’ vehicles to use
✔️ when to progress from back roads to hwys
✔️ when to take (+retake 😂) the test
All that mattered as a learner.
