Happy to be part of the India-IFAD Partnership - Paths to prosperity celebrating almost five decades of partnership touching lives of millions of rural households and showing workable models for the Global South.
Ms. Anuradha Thakur, Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, @FinMinIndia and, Mr. Donald Brown, Associate Vice President @IFAD launched the Country Strategic Opportunities Programme (COSOP) 2026–2033, marking a significant step in strengthening rural prosperity, at the IFAD–India Day event held in New Delhi today,
Aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047, the strategy aims to enhance the social, economic, and climate resilience of rural communities, strengthen grassroots institutions such as SHGs, FPOs, and cooperatives, and scale proven development models across India and the Global South.
The IFAD–India Day platform brought together key stakeholders to reflect on nearly five decades of partnership and chart the next phase of collaboration focused on impact, innovation, and knowledge sharing.
A strong step towards building inclusive, resilient, and market-oriented rural economies at scale.

IFAD and the Government of #India are scaling up successful income‑raising interventions across agricultural value chains to reach 150,000 people in rural Mizoram over the next 6 years.
The new US$45.78 million financing agreement builds on an earlier IFAD‑financed programme in the region, which successfully raised incomes by 43% through improved market access and integrated farming practices.
In alignment with India’s priorities for inclusive and climate‑resilient growth, the programme’s second phase will support smallholder farmers and rural enterprises to move from subsistence to market‑oriented production – improving how crops and livestock products are produced, aggregated, processed and sold.
