So you win the lawsuit and remove suppressors and short barreled firearms from the NFA. I am all for dismantling the NFA, but where does this approach leave those of us in the 16 or so states that now have ownership of these items made illegal because it was based on federal registration?
I agree with most of what was said regarding the Trump administration having a very good start to 2A issues this term, and I am disgusted with the Senate actions on the BBB....however, let us not forget that President Trump sent his VP to the Senate to make sure the BBB advanced. The VP had both the authority and the opportunity to over ride the "advice" of the parliamentarian and return the HPA and SHORT act to their full versions and he chose not to do it. There is plenty of blame to be shared with the administration over the watered down version that is in the current bill. Makes you wonder if the administration is now turning fickle on their promises to uphold 2A rights. The alienation of millions of 2A voters is likely to cost them their majorities in the midterms as well.

Only at the cost of continuing to trample on 2A rights. This is the kind of opportunity to correct that injustice that I have only seen once in my 60+ years and the 2A community does not want to waste this opportunity we are not likely to see again in the near future. Right now you are alienating millions of 2A voters which will cost you the majorities in the midterms, so, how shortsighted do you want to be in forcing through the bill as it currently stands? Honor the campaign promises to protect 2A rights. Add back the full wording of the Hearing Protection Act and the SHORT act, then protect it from the unelected, partisan staffer and the BBB can sail right through.
@realDonaldTrump@JDVance@SpeakerJohnson@LeaderJohnThune@SteveScalise@SteveScaliseGOP@RepNickBegich@tomemmer@fourboxesdiner@BradenLOA@Guns_Gadgets
If you wanted this to pass easily, you should have "worn your stripes" and over ridden the parliamentarian on the Hearing Protection Act and the SHORT act in the Senate version. You had the authority and the opportunity but you chose to betray the 2A community for some reason. You have currently alienated millions of 2A voters which will cost the Republicans in the midterm elections. Add the full wording of the HPA and Short acts back and the BBB can sail on through.
@realDonaldTrump@SpeakerJohnson@SteveScalise@tomemmer@LeaderJohnThune@ChuckGrassley@BradenLOA
As it currently stands, it is not the "People's Bill" for millions of 2A voters without the full wording of the Hearing Protection Act and the SHORT act included. Without those millions of voters will not support Republicans in the midterms and the majorities will be lost. Easiest thing in the world to add in the full wording as it started out in the Senate version of the bill. The July 4 deadline is an arbitrarily imposed deadline for the sake of showmanship. Take a couple extra days and fix some of these things. In a year, no one will remember what day the bill was signed on...they will remember what was wrong with the bill.
@SpeakerJohnson@SteveScalise@JDVance@realDonaldTrump@tomemmer@RepJasonSmith@ChuckGrassley@LeaderJohnThune@BradenLOA@RepNickBegich
Rep Begich, please show some courage. Vote no on the BBB unless it also contains the full wording of the HPA and the SHORT acts as proposed by Rep Clyde. Protecting and restoring our rights should be at least as important as juggling around some dollars. If the BBB goes through without the versions, it will be remembered at midterms and the Republicans will lose the majorities. @RepNickBegich
A year from now, no one will remember what day the bill was signed on...they will remember what is or is not in the bill. If the HPA and SHORT act wording is not restored to its full version, millions of furious 2A voters will not show up at midterms and the Republicans will no longer have the majority in the house or the senate.
That is a short sighted view. The 2A community is furious at what the senate did to the HPA and SHORT act language in the bill. If it stands, "MAGA" will lose millions of 2A voters nation wide and hence lose the majority in the House and Senate....how does that build a better stronghold?
Congressman Emmer, I understand you are taking the position that you will push for the bill to be passed exactly as it came from the senate.
If you are that shortsighted, you will lose millions of 2A based voters for the Republicans in the midterms. The 2A community is furious at the current betrayal in the Senate for not including the full wording of the Hearing Protection Act and the SHORT act.
The July 4th date is an artificially imposed goal. In a year no one will remember what day the bill was finally signed on, but we will remember the betrayal and will be dealing with all the other unintended consequences of a poorly crafted, rushed bill.
Please support Congressman Clyde's amendment to restore the full wording of the HPA and the SHORT acts.
@GOPMajorityWhip@Rep_Clyde@SpeakerJohnson@RepNickBegich@BradenLOA@SteveScalise@SteveScaliseGOP@realDonaldTrump@JDVance@VP
Congressman Smith, I keep seeing your nonstop message streams about how "great" this bill is. Sadly it is missing one simple item that would go along way towards restoring our rights, which should be even more important that just juggling money around. That is the missing full wording of the HPA and the SHORT acts.
Please bear in mind, if you push this forward without the full wording of the Hearing Protection Act and the SHORT act, the Republicans will lose millions of 2A voters, especially all those that voted for the first time in 2024. That will cost you the majority in the midterm elections. The 2A community is furious at the current betrayal on this issue. Please do not be that shortsighted. Fully support Congressman Clyde's amendment to restore the wording and fight to not push the bill forward unless it contains the updated wording.
@jasonsmith@AndrewClyde_@RepNickBegich@BradenLOA@SteveScalise
Congressman Clyde, thank you for continuing to work on behalf of restoring our 2A rights.
Congressman Begich, Now is the time to step up and support the amendment to restore the full wording of the Hearing Act Protection and the SHORT act to the big bill on behalf of all the 2A based voters in Alaska. Please vote no on the bill unless it contains the full wording of these two items. The $200 dollar reduction alone is nothing more than an insult so please help correct this.
Let's return this to the Senate and make them over ride the unelected staffer that butchered this in the first place.
Sincerely, David Diedrichsen, Anchorage, AK
@Rep_Clyde@RepNickBegich@SteveScalise@SpeakerJohnson@BradenLOA
@SteveScalise just saw your add asking for donations for the midterm elections. Guess what? Unless you get the full Hearing Protection Act and the full SHORT act back in the BBB, you will lose millions of 2A voters who are currently being betrayed and all the money in the world won't help win the midterms and there will be no majority in either chamber of Congress to support the second half of President Trump's term. All because of mind numbing short sightedness currently taking place in the Senate by allowing a non-elected political hack to run roughshod over them (parliamentarian) with the full support of Senator Thune and VP Vance and Senator Grassley.
Before you ask for money, you might first see how easy it would be to keep millions of voters first that would be fantastically loyal and supportive if only the promise to protect their Second Amendment rights is kept.
Sincerely, David Diedrichsen
@LeaderJohnThune@JDVance@realDonaldTrump@lisamurkowski@DanSullivan_AK@RepNickBegich@ChuckGrassley@BradenLOA@SpeakerJohnson
There are now millions of Americans that do not support the Big Butchered Bill after how the 2A community has been betrayed with the edits to the Hearing Protection Act and the SHORT act sections of the bill.
After this betrayal, how much support do you really expect from the millions of 2A voters in the upcoming midterm elections? The ones that gave you majorities in the White House and both chambers of congress.
Promises Made - Promises Broken !!!
@JDVance@LeaderJohnThune@realDonaldTrump@JohnCornyn@BradenLOA@lisamurkowski@DanSullivan_AK@RepNickBegich
Senator Thune, Senator Grassley, VP Vance...even President Trump now sees how badly you are allowing an unelected, partisan staffer to sabotage the BBB and likely he realizes what this means for the midterm elections when millions of 2A voters that voted for the first time in 2024 to deliver the White House and both chambers to a Republican majority, based on promises made, decide to abandon the party that immediately betrayed them.
I urge you to restore the full wording of the Hearing Protection Act and the SHORT act to the bill in order to stave off midterm losses that will lead to the loss majorities in the Senate and House.
Sincerely, David Diedrichsen
@LeaderJohnThune@ChuckGrassley@VP@JDVance@realDonaldTrump@SpeakerJohnson
Senator Murkowski, Senator Sullivan, I urge you to use whatever means you have available to return the full wording of the Hearing Protection Act and the SHORT Act to the BBB after it was incorrectly judged by the parliamentarian. The whole thing is fully tax related and the current offering to just remove the $200 tax fee will have the net effect of creating an illegal gun registry, since there will be no actual tax revenue related to what is left intact under the NFA. Mark Smith can explain this better than I can though
While there are some other good things still in the bill, this single item has the power to drive away millions of 2A voters that registered and voted for the first in 2024 with the understanding that this term would straighten out long standing infringements on the Second Amendment. This will likely have the effect of costing the Republicans the majorities in the House and the Senate at the midterm elections. Please work with Senator Thune and VP Vance to over ride the parliamentarian and return the full wording to the BBB.
Sincerely, David Diedrichsen, Anchorage, AK
@lisamurkowski@DanSullivan_AK@RepNickBegich@fourboxesdiner@LeaderJohnThune@SpeakerJohnson@realDonaldTrump@JDVance
President Trump, I urge you to get involved however you can to return the full wording of the Hearing Protection Act and the SHORT act after it was incorrectly judged by the rogue parliamentarian supported by Senator Thune. These items are completely tax related items, which Mark Smith can explain better than I can.
Please be aware that this single item is likely to cost you the House and Senate majorities in the midterms, since it will drive away millions of the 2A community that registered and voted for the first time in the 2024 election, helping deliver you to the White House, along with delivering Republican majorities in the House and the Senate. The 2A community is a tight knit one with a long memory and already there is frustration about being screwed over by the senate on this issue and what it will mean for the midterms.
Sincerely, David Diedrichsen
