Sam Neill passed today and this might be the most Sam thing ever.
He named his farm animals after celebs; a goat called Graham Norton, Helena Bonham Carter as the horned cow, and zero chance of eating Meryl Streep.
Warm, witty, completely himself. Legend forever. 🦖
What’s one Sam Neill moment you’ll never forget?
MAJOR BREAKING: Trump's ICE has been involved in another shooting death, this time in Biddeford, Maine around Hill Street and Pool Street.
Further details coming.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH ALREADY!
I met him once boarding a plane. We were stuck in line and i was like "ok..say something..fk do it.. do it...do it" in my head..
He turns once glances at me... smiles and nods... like "yeah i know you know who i am.." and i just go quiet...then he glances back and just says "ask away..."
I did the usual "omfg love your work blah blah" and then he asked what I did and then just went into this rathole of how tech and creativity fascinate him and how people do things with computers and then we ended up talking about sheep properties and my life living in the outback... then he splintered off to his seat and mine..
Then we get to our destination, I get off and my wife is waiting for me with the kids and he gets off after me as he was ambushed with people wanting selfies... anyway I tell my wife "guess who's on the plane" and so she now wants to wait around, he then walks past us, nods at me and says "nice meeting you Scott" and continues..
The look my wife gave me at that point in time was like "WTF DID YOU DO.."
Anyway. All i remember was here's one guy who could have just waived me off took the time to chat about nothing and still somehow gave me the "you matter too" vibe.
Legend. Genuinely sad he's passed.
BREAKING: Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was NOT the target of the deadly immigration operation on Tuesday in Houston, according to DHS.
Here, one of his sons visits a makeshift memorial set up in the very spot where he was fatally shot by an ICE officer.
Lorenzo Salgado Araujo's last words were "me están matando"—they are killing me.
Under Donald Trump, ICE has become a rogue and abusive agency. ICE is killing people in the streets. Targeting Latinos because of the color of their skin, the language they speak, and the jobs they hold. Locking away innocent children. Colluding with the likes of Governor Abbott to target communities. All to fuel the President's mass deportation for profit machine.
I stand with my colleagues in Congress and with the entire nation in demanding justice, including a transparent investigation and the release of all footage and evidence. I am also demanding ICE provide a full accounting of the men who were locked away after the shooting.
Lorenzo's death is a tragedy. His wife has lost her husband. His sons have lost their father. We cannot allow this to happen again.
Every single ICE agent involved in the fatal shooting of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo must be investigated to the full extent of the law.
Video footage of the killing must be released immediately.
The American people deserve the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
UPDATE—ICE refuses to release body of man shot in Houston to his family.
Agents stripped him of any form of ID after they shot him—then classified him as "John Doe."
ICE is demanding family submit biometric info to confirm identity.
"He deserves a proper funeral," said lawyer.
Lawyer interview statement starts at 30 seconds into video clip.
"They haven't made it easy—they have made it very, very difficult."
"We are demanding the release of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo's body."

🚨BREAKING: (Chicago suburb, St. Charles) ICE agents smashed a handcuffed man’s face into a stone wall, then assaulted a U.S. citizen, multiple times, once they realized they were filming.
In the video, multiple ICE agents have a man in handcuffs. While he is completely under their control, and not resisting, they smash his face into a stone wall.
A U.S. citizen begins asking for the man’s name, while filming... note that he is not interfering, blocking the agents, or preventing the arrest in any way…. But that doesn’t stop the ICE agent from chases after him, while another agent threatens him with a taser.
As the citizen is actively backing away, the agent continues walking toward him, and aggressively shoves him backwards.
Even after the detained man is being escorted to the vehicle… and the legal observer is nowhere near the agents, or their cars… that same ICE agent continues shoving the U.S. citizen for no apparent reason.
And while he is standing on the public sidewalk, another agent walks over and points a taser inches from him, and then turns around and points his taser at other innocent people, who are just standing and watching.
Americans have a First Amendment right to record government officials performing their duties in public. Threatening, intimidating, or assaulting someone because they are documenting law enforcement, violates that right.
And slamming a person face, who is handcuffed and not resisting, into a stone wall is excessive force.
This is exactly why it’s important to always record anytime you see ICE agents.
Because when there isn’t video evidence, we’re told to trust the government’s version of events. And more often than not, their version is filled with lies.
But when there is video, the people filming often become the next target… just for documenting what is happening.
And that’s what makes this so alarming.
This is happening across the country, almost every single day. Americans are watching videos of people being thrown to the ground, beaten, threatened, shoved, tased, and intimidated by federal agents… while never seeing anyone held accountable.
When a government refuses to investigate or discipline agents who violate people’s constitutional rights, it sends a message that they can keep doing it.
And that’s exactly what we’re seeing.
The Constitution means nothing if the people sworn to uphold it can violate it without consequence.
And as long as this administration refuses to hold ICE agents accountable, Americans should expect to keep seeing videos like this… because impunity breeds abuse.
Lorenzo Salgado Araujo should be with his family today.
Instead, he was killed by ICE — and his family learned of his murder by hearing his cries on social media, like Silverio Villegas González in Chicago.
His family must hear the truth with a full, transparent investigation.
Video appears to show no damage to the vehicle of the man ICE killed in Houston, who had lived in America peacefully for 35 years, despite ICE's claim that he "rammed" an ICE vehicle and "tried to run over" an agent. These people are not credible.
Lorenzo Salgado Araujo's family called him "El mundo entero" — the whole world.
Two days ago, he was shot and killed by ICE agents on his way to work. Many of us have seen the horrifying video of him crying out in pain, and we continue to be outraged by the horrific and cruel actions of ICE under the Trump Administration.
Doug and my prayers are with Lorenzo's wife, his three sons, and all those who loved and knew him. I join his son Ronaldo in calling for an immediate, independent, and transparent investigation.
The killing of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo shakes me to my core.
A husband. A father. A hardworking man who woke up every day striving to provide for the people he loved. This family should be together. Instead, they are grieving an unimaginable loss.
The American people, and Lorenzo’s family, deserve facts they can trust. That is why there must be a truly independent investigation, free from political influence.
Under Kash Patel, the FBI has lost the confidence of too many Americans to credibly investigate an incident involving another federal law enforcement agency on its own.
For months I have warned that this ICE agency has become increasingly reckless, chaotic, and unaccountable. It continues to operate with unprecedented levels of taxpayer funding, untethered from our nation’s highest ideals, and with tragically little oversight.
No agency entrusted with the power to detain, deport, or use deadly force can be permitted to operate without meaningful oversight and real accountability.
Our nation must never accept a standard where those entrusted with the greatest power face the least accountability.
Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was a husband and father, living and working in Houston for 35 years. Yesterday, an ICE agent shot and killed him.
I join the family in demanding a full investigation and have urged ICE to release all body-camera and dash-camera footage, as well as any communications from agents before and after the shooting.
My prayers are with the family and the entire Houston community grieving this tragic loss. His family and Texans deserve answers, accountability, and justice.
