@HMRCgovuk please can you do something about your Self Assessment pay by bank account process. It has been saying "We're very busy at the moment, try again in 5 minutes" for the last 2hrs. It's pretty obvious that this will be the busiest week where people need access to pay.

Bus and tram fares will be frozen until July 2026 to deal with the cost of living.

This adds to the record number of fare freezes I’ve put in place since 2016.

@Peston But at those levels you can only contribute a maximum of £4k p.a. under the taper rules, over which you pay 45%. So the increase to £60k is irrelevant.
