The National Park Service ran on a $3 billion budget and generated $56 billion in economic output in 2024. That’s over $17 back for every $1 invested.
With a record of 332 million visitors last year, Americans clearly care about their parks and expect them to be funded.
I honestly cannot stress this enough but please start living & enjoying your life. Your life is passing by daily and all you’re doing is working, paying bills, & overthinking stuff you can't change. Start taking trips and treating yourself. Have fun with this life. You only get 1
I want to be rich. But not Lamborghini
or Rolex rich, I want to be rich enough to go to the gym at 3pm and nobody can tell me no. To tap the family in front of me at the supermarket and say, "It's on me," Rich enough that my future wife never has to worry about getting a job. Rich enough to show my children the world, not pictures of it. Rich enough to take my friends to dinner and say, "| got this", Rich enough that God uses me to help the people who are in need. That's my version of rich.
Buttigieg: And my word of warning to my own political party is that we would make a terrible mistake if we thought that our job was to just take power somehow and then put everything back the way it was. That’s not what we’re here to do.
We’re not out to go around and just find all the little bits and pieces of everything that they smashed and tape it together and say, “Here you go, I give you the world as it looked in 2023.” That’s not going to work. It’s not what we need.
So much has changed, and the truth is they are destroying things right and left. They’re destroying a lot of good, important things. They’re destroying some useless things too, because they’re destroying everything. So now we get a chance to put things together on different terms.
The USA is the richest country on the planet it could have everything, the best healthcare, the best schools, the longest life expectancy, the best wages, the best pensions.
Instead it has 1000 billionaires with $10tn.
Civilization was built by people like this, and there is a stunning lack of gratitude in our culture for their work.
In this specific case, at least half of the apple varieties in Brown’s collection were considered “lost” until he personally tracked them down and saved them.
He literally went on quests where he did things like, tracking a lost variety back to a stump of a long-ago-cut-down tree near an abandoned homestead in remote Appalachia, took cuttings from the green shoots coming out of the stump, brought them back and planted them.
Absolute legend.
Middle-class Americans can expect to pay $900 more in taxes under Trump’s OBBB, and many red states will see over a $1000 increase.
The top 1% can expect $117 billion in tax cuts this year, one part of their $1 trillion reduction over the 10 years.
While major corporations dodge taxes this season, the bottom 95% is shafted with tax hikes brought on by tariffs.
The national parks are an American crown jewel, & drive enormous economic activity. Just ask all the owners & employees of hotels, restaurants, gift shops in the areas around the parks. Bleed them of resources, fewer people will go & economies in states like Utah will suffer.
This isn't just a reorganization of the U.S. Forest Service. It's a dismantling of the agency—an agency that not only provides access to our public lands but protects against wildfires and prevents ecological disasters. https://t.co/H322JHkxfc
Closing U.S. Forest Service research stations in California right now isn't just reckless — it's dangerous. With historically low snowpack and peak fire season arriving early, we need MORE federal resources, not less. I will fight to keep these stations open and kill this plan!
The guy overseeing Trumps’s dismantling of the Forest Service btw is a multimillionaire rancher and tech executive who has a history of petty disputes with the agency https://t.co/8vjL9upc3S
The Trump administration has announced it plans to dismantle the US Forest Service.
All 10 regional offices are set to close in addition to over 50 research labs.
Shutting down the US national Forest service and selling/stripping assets for parts is legitimately stupid and disgusting and you're an idiot for defending it.
I can't find the words to describe the Forest Service demise. We are on a precipice, and the last thing we need is more slashing and burning. I spent part of my career working for a state wildlife agency and worked with the USFS many times. This is evil on another level.
National Forests are a crown jewel. They are my favorite places in America.
If the Administration moves the USFS out West, they must EXPAND local science, local leadership, and local conservation…not diminish it.
Our forests need local support and protection, not defunding.
national forests are for us all. politicians elected to serve the people have become corrupt beyond redemption. these morally bankrupt ghouls will destroy what makes this country beautiful because it will enrich them personally. a better world is possible, but only if we make it
"One hundred and ninety-three million acres of your national forests. An area larger than Texas. The largest public land agency in the country. Just handed, on a silver platter, to the people who’ve spent their entire careers trying to destroy it.
And they did it with a press release on a Tuesday."
