One of my pet peeves is when archers in a historical movie or show are ordered to "fire”. Before gunpowder this term made absolutely no sense.

In Army of Darkness they actually lampshade it. The archers tie bags of gunpowder with burning fuses onto their arrows, so the term "fire" makes sense. Then they have Ash be the guy who gives the order, who is objectively an idiot.

But in reality, you would have told your archers to "loose" or "shoot" or "let fly" or something like that. In addition, the idea of everyone shooting their arrows in a synchronized attack all together is a post-gunpowder idea. You see, volley fire was developed for arquebuses or muskets - to maximize noise and ensure the enemy is close enough, and grouped together enough, for that first shot to count.

Of course at times you wanted your archers to all shoot together, but even then only the first shot of your sequence would be volley. Then your archers would shoot as best they could.

Anyway, archers and crossbowmen don't "fire". Case closed.

Lo último que he visto de él "the surfer" me encantó. En esa su personaje. tambien enfrentaba situaciones muy, muy difíciles.
