Atlantic Ave has long been a Boulevard of Death, as 15+ years of campaigning by @TransAlt@TransAltBK has shown. Despite cries for change from communities and many tragedies, @NYC_DOT has done little for a safer Atlantic. Let’s #fixatlantic now! https://t.co/QjCBjxOgL1 @s_nessen
Hold Developer Accountable for Failed Promises at Brooklyn Mega-Project on Atlantic Avenue, via @StreetsblogNYC @Julcuba #fixAtlantic https://t.co/D1M6rDXfyF
This is probably the *worst* ‘bike infrastructure’ crossing @DHFixAtlantic but TBH there are 0 *good* options. #FixVanderbiltAve is the only place I’m aware of that the #bikeNYC lane doesn’t completely disappear right when it’s most important. (Currently blocked by construction)
Great to see @NYC_DOT’s plans to not only implement Apolline’s Garden but also more comprehensive safety upgrades along Vanderbilt, Gates, and Atlantic Avenue. 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻
@D00RZ0NE@NYC_DOT Atlantic Avenue is a deadly problem for communities in Brooklyn and Queens that DOT has ignored for way too long: let’s #fixAtlantic already!
Uh I think we already tried this at Atlantic Yards and 20 years later we have little to show for it but broken promises and zero accountability.
@KathyHochul I hope this same commitment is made for finishing that project, solving our homeless crisis, fixing our subways, etc.
Great that a developer is thinking abt how to #fixAtlantic: It's something @NYC_DOT and @NYCPlanning have utterly failed to do, and Brooklyn’s deadliest street needs a comprehensive plan for both old and new residents NOW https://t.co/0BbtIOMsYY @TransAlt@StreetsblogNYC@Julcuba
“The Intersection at Atlantic and Flatbush Has Long Been Dangerous. But What Can Be Done?” Step 1: @NYC_DOT can actually commit to #fixTimesPlaza and #fixAtlantic for everyone rather than taking baby steps on our boulevard of death https://t.co/D9dSL9KtzO @fritzed_you@TransAlt
Mechanical lock on my door was damaged. Called a locksmith. Comes to door, sees lock &quotes me at $225. I agree. He then adds $65 service fee+taxes & charges $100 over original deal. Guess who is now going to push to pass a law for transparent pricing 4 locksmiths......this guy!
How much longer must Brooklyn wait until you unpause Phase II of #fixAtlantic, bringing needed traffic calming and #bikenyc lanes to bike priority district, a project approved and promised years ago but has yet to even begin? @NYC_DOT@ydanis@BKBPReynoso@TransAlt
.@NYCMayor and @NYCParks announce over 100+ projects paused during the #COVID19 pandemic are moving into construction this spring.
Mayor Adams and Commissioner Donoghue broke ground on a $2.2 Million Saratoga Playground Renovation on the Brownsville/BedStuy Border.
Had GREAT time w/ our Chair of Transportation & Infrastructure @Powers4Queens touring D33 issues:
- Crumbling BQE Triple Cantilever
- Need for York St F 2nd entrance
- Placard abuse in Downtown Bk
- Dangerous Mn Bridge bike entrance
- Atlantic Ave traffic calming
& we Citibiked!
Reading the replies here, it’s interesting that even people living in the vicinity of Atlantic Avenue, never hear what happens to the victims. These fatalities are memory-holed, papered over. That’s bad.
