Friedrich Meischer first isolated the nucleic acid in 1859 from Pus-cells. It wasn’t til the 1900s when Rosalind Franklin perfected the X-ray crystallography that was critical for James D. Watson and Francis Crick to identify the double-helix structure of DNA. Women in science!

Did You Know? Our DNA is constantly being bombarded by agents that can cause mutation? Fortunately cells can often repair a genetic mutation before it becomes permanent; so the vast majority of mutations pose no health risks at all, unless you have a DNA repair deficient disorder
