@documense As our main fronter, I ask if they have a name just so I know who I'm talking to and will learn to recognize them and their needs then ask if they know what year it is, how they're feeling, what they need. Then we work on grounding 1/2

@documense I work to help them orient to the present if needed and help them find a space inside where they feel safe. We have a rather complex headspace, but have been in therapy almost 15 years so we're very good at tailoring it to our needs. 2/2

@documense We're a large system over 100 and this is our experience too. Outside of trauma or extreme stress (which is relative, what's extreme for one system may not be for another) only a small group front or interact frequently.

@thebohomizfitz @dissociacrip It's certainly possible that the trauma contributed, along with just being underdeveloped. It may be worth it to look into something like emdr or other trauma processing for her if that's the case. Hugs back, thank you for sharing your experience.

@dissociacrip So essentially we've figured it out as we've developed better communication, but it's more a highly educated guess than an exact date or time.

We had many invasive tests, were strapped down to stop us pulling out our breathing tube, had abdominal surgery, stopped breathing many times, recieved synthetic surfactant, were poked with needles during tests and that's just what we know from family.
