The Korean government is planning to start buying AI stocks in the open market when the KOSPI is currently still up ~50% YTD
Maybe they are just competing with Japan on who can incinerate more public money and damage the domestic economy faster 🤷♂️
This case also demonstrates the limitations to “insider” knowledge. The market is sometimes efficient even with respect to those who “know” more. However much you know about the present, nobody knows the future, let alone the exact path by which we evolve toward a future.

🚨Private credit troop movements:
First Head of BlackRock’s private credit fund resigns in early July and now Co-CEO of BlackStone’s $78 billion private credit fund resigns.

The US has been having fewer and fewer recessions over time.
This shows the percentage of time spent in a recession during the first 40 years of your life, based on birth month; from 1900 thru 1986 (a 40 year old right now).
There are two types of momentum crashes: market rebounds (left) and market downturns (right).
The prototypical momentum crashes are rebound crashes, for example post GFC 2009. They are much more violent and driven by the short leg.
But there were also some downturn crashes, for example Dotcom burst 2000. They tend to be milder and driven by both legs equally.
Company takes on debt, equity values adjust to position for greater equity return going forward. Modigliani-Miller. Bankruptcy risk is real too of course.
$ORCL was a $1 Trillion company. The company has lost 2/3 of its value in 9 months and 31% of its value in one month. These are moves indicative of institutional insight into bankruptcy. Not overreaction.
🔴MOMENTUM STOCKS ARE UNRAVELING AT THEIR FASTEST PACE SINCE THE GREAT FINANCIAL CRISIS:
Goldman's US High Beta Momentum basket is on track to fall -23% this month, its worst monthly decline in 17 years, when it fell as much as -34% in its steepest month.
This basket tracks volatile, high-beta momentum names, with stocks like Nvidia, $NVDA, Super Micro Computer, $SMCI, Palantir, $PLTR, D-Wave Quantum, $QBTS, and Navitas Semiconductor, $NVTS, among the names contributing most to its moves.
These stocks are also among the most favorite of retail investors.
This comes as investors increasingly question whether AI hyperscalers are overbuilding their capacity.
The most speculative corner of the AI trade is unwinding at a furious pace.
