1. My grandmother had a rotary phone when I was a kid and I believe we had a rotary phone for a few years. It mightโve been hers that we inherited it and took home, but I know we had one for awhile.
2. Yes. My very first computer was an MS DOS computer and MS DOS computers used floppy discs. Itโs funny, Early systems didn't have hard drives, so you would manually boot the OS directly from a floppy in Drive A. Thatโs wild to think how stuff has changed.
3. So when I first really became heavily into writing when I was a child, I really wanted to typewriter. I think I was about eight years old when I got my first typewriter and I loved that thing to pieces. It broke my heart when I couldnโt find any more ink tape for it, and I had to get rid of it to this day. I still miss the sound and the feel of typewriter keys and modern typewriter just do not compare.
4. Ah yes. I remember taking pictures with point-and-shoot cameras that you would take to the local corner store and just get them developed and you didnโt know what would be waiting for you on the camera roll. It was funny because sometimes youโd end up with double exposures, washed out photos, oversaturated photos, it was just really funny, but I do miss The point and click cameras. I do know they still make them.
5. Oh my god. So my very first CD was a burnt CD I believe that my mom made for me when I was seven or eight I think.
6. My very first cassette tape had the song called From The Bottom Of My Broken Heart, which literally only had that one song because I think it was like 15 bucks at FYE and we picked it up because I wanted it really bad and it was Britney Spears and I listened to that thing constantly even though it was one song I canโt tell you how many times Iโve played that one song.
7. I donโt remember my first time listening to a vinyl record, but I think it was probably at my grandparents house or my grandparents house. I wish I could tell you. But I do own vinyls Iโve had vinyls for a very long time.
8. Yessss. I loved my Walkman! It was the best thing!
9. Yep. I had one of the old classic 90โs vintage boomboxes. They were amazing.
10. I honestly miss VHS tapes so bad. Movie rentals and rewinding the tapes. Stuff we used to complain about doing. I miss it.
11. I never got a fax but I have sent a fax.
12. Yes.
13. AGAINNNNN I MISSSSSSSSS OLD VIDEO STORES.
14. Yep. Dial up was a time.
15. Yep we would use phone books to look up people, movies, store locations, restaurants and events etc!
16. Yes before Google Maps we had MapQuest and Maps from the gas station!
17. I actually used to read the dictionary for fun when I was a child. Thatโs probably one of the reasons I love writing so much. Expanding vernacular in my repertoire was much needed.
18. Yes, my brother owned encyclopedias, and therefore I owned and encyclopedias.
19. I have paid with a paper check more than once and I still think theyโre stupid to this day.
