Anyone who lives in constant worry of what will happen to them if they get ill, of whether they will be able to afford care or time off work, lives in a state of unfreedom. Any model of society that makes this worry inevitable is itself diseased (William Shoki).
"Kenyans at the base of the pyramid experience financial hardship when out-of-pocket payments, formal and informal, is enormous in relation to a household’s ability to pay for health care - @JOchieng85 & @DJattani

Folks, as you discuss merits of forced contributions as a form of social insurance for health costs, lets remember some things. Kenya's reality is that we are proclaiming UHC at annual US$ 2600 income per person. Limiting what is available to cover healthcare costs. 1/N
A society with citizens at this income level will build a very modest coverage system. That is waht we should pursue and the proposal that is the talk of the moment is not it. 6/6
The pre-budget hearings provide an opportunity for the corporate sector, social sector & other interested groups to make budget proposals for possible consideration by the Treasury.

@gachoki_munene@njoguwambu1 And because each county has its own approach, the problem of inequality starts early. There was a proposal to change this in the PWPER report. I hope this issue sees the light of day.
3. While std classrooms have basic requirements ECDE classes are never considered under this classification and hence some counties have classes others don't, some have adequate classes others don't, counties also don't pay ECDE teachers the same pay. 3/3
I never understand why we treat ECDE teachers as sunday school teacher (based on classification, employment, pay etc), why are they not under TSC? Why let counties decide what and when to pay as well as who to recruit? 2/3
