Just two days after the abduction of young activist Praise Aloikin Opoloje, on the orders from Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, new reports indicate that she has been taken to Kampala Central Police Station, where she is facing charges of broadcasting without a license under Section 28(1) and (2) of the Uganda Communications Act.
Now, you might be wondering: Was she operating a television or radio station? No! According to the reports, the allegations are linked to her TikTok account.
But that's not all. According to Agora Discourse, Aloikin has reportedly narrated how she was tortured inside a van immediately after being abducted.
What exactly is going on? Why is a young activist facing these allegations over her online activities? And what does this case mean for freedom of expression in Uganda?
Stay with me as we break down the latest developments and share my commentary on this disturbing case.

At least everyone would have had the opportunity to leave Uganda and see the world beyond it—to open their eyes and experience what development really means. Just look at our immediate neighbour, Kenya; you can clearly see what development means.
General Kabage is joking with a generation that has nothing to lose. Some people are not looking for handouts, which is why we refuse to bootlick our oppressors.
