I watched PMQs today
Mr Starmer seemed considerably more relaxed, and less combative
I wonder whether he has made up his mind that he is nearing the end of his tenure as PM
@CCHQPress@reformparty_uk@Makerfield_RFK It actually makes me sad, to see such a great Party as the Tories were, fall so low as this nonsense
They ought to be mature, respectful, analytical, thinking of the good of the country.. and still remorseful
But they betrayed us for 14 years, many will never trust them again
At the next G Elect Tories will be in real trouble over the EU
Labour Liberals SNP Plaid Green will pledge to rejoin the EU or “ get closer” ; code for rejoin without telling you
Reform will pledge to stay out
Tories are totally split ; they will fudge
And lose badly
I suggest people read Janet Daley’s article in today’s Sunday Telegraph
Wherever you are on the political spectrum, the article it is an interesting read
As I understand it, even if Mr Starmer asks the King to desolve Parliament, the King does not automatically have to do so
He is able to consider whether there is another MP who could command a majority in the House
If so, and they did win a confidence vote , they would be PM
Mrs Thatcher had courage , vision , a philosophy, leadership qualities , and a strong faith
But mostly courage
She seized the moment and won the crown
Is there a Labour MP who has such courage ?
@JamesCleverly James
You are clutching at straws You were party to betraying your voters for 14 years
The Tory party will never be trusted again by millions of us
Look at your manifestos in 2017 and 2019
Then look at what you did
British Constitution
A PM who has led a party to a gen election victory , has greater authority than one who assumes office within a parliament
An assuming one should not be allowed to commit armed forces without a vote , nor use the royal prerogative
@BethRigby@BrexitBuster Beth
For balance let’s have an aggressive interview with Mr Starmer about why he withdrew security from Mr Farage
And another about the money given by donors to Labour, who then were given big contracts by Labour in Government
Why have you not done these ?
@Bobbybollocks2@andyw8924 Beth Rigby has truly shown her political colours here. And she was very rude.
I suggest Reform refuse to do anymore interviews with her
@RachelReevesMP@lukeakehurst Mrs Reeves
I am afraid that you are wrong. We live in a Parliamentary democracy. The Labour Party won most seats at the general election with Mr Starmer as leader.
He serves at His Majesty’s pleasure because, and only when, he can command a majority in the House
@KarlTurnerMP Karl
I am a Reform supporter but believe the House of Commons would be well served if it had more Members with your earthy, northern , good common sense
@DPJHodges@janicesus This Lady is fast becoming one of my favourite MPs
Immaculately dressed, she has a presence , speaks forcefully without notes, and commands attention
I believe she will be very successful
It is a wondrous thing to watch new, talented people arrive
