Check out this new article in Precambrian Research by my former MSc student Santiago Serna Ortiz and myself on a Neoproterozoic #delta in #avalonia that reveals #syn-#sedimentary#foreland deformation:

@RNC_PoliceNL Come on @rnc. I lived in Nova Scotia during the Wortman mass shooting where at least 13 lives could have been saved if the RCMP had just used the emergency alert system. Very irresponsible especially with thousands heading to the area for the parade.
One of many great fieldwork locations in summer 2023! Folded volcaniclastic turbidites of the Harbour Main Group, Conception Bay @MUN_EarthSci#geologyfieldwork
GAC-MAC 2023 attendees, check out Santiago Serna Ortiz's talk at 5:20 - 5:40 pm, SS25-1 in C112: STRATAL EVOLUTION AND PROVENANCE OF A PRECAMBRIAN DELTA IN A TECTONICALLY ACTIVE TERRANE: THE LOWER SIGNAL HILL GROUP

We are just finishing experiments modelling rivers that cut deep channels (like when dams are built). The experiments help understand how to manage & improve ecosystems. To monitor the flow we add coloured dye. This is harmless to aquatic life & rapidly dissipates.
A beach is a hard place for a sedimentologist to go on vacation. Made the most of it. Lateral channel migration and the development and growth of a bank-attached compound braid bar (riffles correspond with the flow axis) #fluvial#fluvialgeomorphology#rivers#sedimentology
We had a great outing back in June with cold Newfoundland nights, but that was all worth it to see some excellent Neoproterzoic delta front deposits! @MUN_EarthSci
Dear friends, please consider submitting an abstract to #GACMAC2022 session SS-23: Tectonics, stratigraphy, and natural resource potential of rifted passive margins: North Atlantic Ocean and beyond. Abstract submission is now open (https://t.co/G0feiDi8S5)
