We are pleased to see protecting communities from flooding as one of the new Minister's priorities. @SteveReedMP we can help support this ambition. #Flooding#Communities
Fantastic to see #water at the centre of the new government environment strategy. Building greater community #resilience to #FloodRisk is essential to meet the impacts of climate change
It's been an exciting week @TotEnvSimulator! Setting up our new #LaVision underwater 3D flow measurement system. We can measure flow volumes of 60 x 40 x 20cm! #FlumeFriday
#FlumeFridy 🔍Curious about the origins of hummocky bedforms? Dive into our newest paper, working with Paul Carling and @bedform, showing experiment findings at @TotEnvSimulator

Check out our latest paper on gravity currents published in @NatureComms. We demonstrated that the current energetics models of Gravity currents significantly underestimate their material transport capacity! https://t.co/YejAGc242G
We are just finishing experiments modelling rivers that cut deep channels (like when dams are built). The experiments help understand how to manage & improve ecosystems. To monitor the flow we add coloured dye. This is harmless to aquatic life & rapidly dissipates.
This is probably the best example of a confluence that I've ever seen in an experimental braided river!
Clear scour hole, avalanche faces and separation zone bars with slight asymmetry from different inflow discharges. Great work by @RiccoMason@TotEnvSimulator@Up_TheCreek
There aren't many downsides to basing your research lab @TotEnvSimulator in an aquarium @TheDeepHull
But just occasionally things don't go to plan...who can resist playing in a flume?
Anyone know anything about penguin #zoogeomorphology? #FlumeFriday
