Hi Everyone! What are you up to for July 4th? We're co-organizing a bipartisan/non-partisan celebration of celebrations across America! (Plus honoring, commemorating, and imagining the future country we want to build.) Wherever you are, whatever you're up to, you can add it to a shared calendar (https://t.co/1q1jQ8lwOl), and join a national zoom call celebration. And we're building this plane as we fly it! :-) Want to come join a planning call and help make this happen? Please join a call today at 3pm PST!

Agreed that the voting situation in California, and across the US, does need fixing. Results shouldn't take weeks to come out, redistricting shouldn't be rigged for parties and candidates (on either side), and overall "voting should be easy, and cheating should be hard", a phrase I learned from a @braverangels bipartisan effort to help clean up and build trust in elections. Another good group is the @ncdd and their effort here: https://t.co/bRjc7JJTkn
Let's find more people from across the partisan spectrum who can come together to help build a stronger, more effective, more representative democracy, and appreciate that there's more that brings us together than pulls us apart. ๐๐๐บ๐ธ
Hi @reidhoffman, is it just "building trust" that's needed? That sounds more like marketing, or, given the track record of too many tech companies, manipulation to pursue profit maximization at all costs. How about "AI companies need to actually build for the benefit of all Americans"? Which might mean *not* doing a data center (@satyanadella's example) in some location, or something else bad for communities or our democracy. Irresponsible and unregulated deployment of AI *WILL* collapse our communities, and our democracy. What do you think it would take to have AI companies and tech leaders elevate preserving our democracy, protecting our communities and economy, and collective human flourishing as higher objectives? ๐
How do you think about those issues yourself, personally?
@johnnymaga It sounds pretty reasonable to think that โmore progressive Democratsโ voted more through mail-in ballots and later than more moderate Dems, especially considering the progressive concerns with the Gov race. โVoter fraudโ is horrible, & different than โI didnโt like the results.โ
@kevndriscoll Yes! Let's do more of this together on July 4th, Interdependance Day! Want to join and co-organize something amazing? Join this call on June 3, 3pm PST / 6pm EST: https://t.co/WuEnKpTwx5 #TogetherWeRise
Thanks @kevndriscoll & @RobSandIA, this is beautiful and refreshing. Much of our "polarization" is fabricated, exaggerated & exploited. And this: "Rob Sand is on to something big: democracy works better when people see each other as neighbors first and partisans second." Yes! ๐
Rob Sand, a Democrat running for governor in Iowa, starts his town halls by having Republicans, Democrats and independents sing America the Beautiful together before anyone argues about politics.
It's hard to believe this is real when you first watch it.
Rob Sand is doing something very different in Iowa right now. It's working https://t.co/5EEXkTwJK9

@jwolfgram@Ric_RTP Don't get too excited there, @jwolfgram, Musk has actively contributed to collapsing our democracy in the US. He's done some good things, I agree, but he's also utterly corrupt and part of the corporatocracy.
@joshm Hi @diabrowser, @browsercompany, & @Atlassian, Dia Browser looks cool, but it uses @OpenAI / @ChatGPTapp, which is working to collapse our democracy & build a surveillance state. What would it take for you to align with democracy & the future of humanity and @quitchatgpt?
A brave and honest letter, thanks @joekent16jan19 for sharing and taking action. We might not agree on everything, but protecting our American democracy from manipulation and foreign influence is something we do agree on, and protecting American & all lives from unnecessary wars.
After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today.
I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby.
It has been an honor serving under @POTUS and @DNIGabbard and leading the professionals at NCTC.
May God bless America.
@elonmusk One of the best things for our democracy and future would be the closure of OpenAI. Everyone should @quitchatgpt. https://t.co/b3cL1lRc4v
Also algorithmic transparency, to make sure none of our social media channels are manipulating our feeds for political purposes. Thoughts?

This was long overdue. If you use @ChatGPTapp, especially if you pay, and you care about your own life, or your family, your kids, America, the world, or humanity, then please @quitchatgpt https://t.co/qnA6i6IHIx. CC @sama please come to your senses and stop the madness.
Can we shift โAIโ to โAI for goodโ? If youโre in SF, come to the AI Summit tomorrow and letโs chat โฆ or ping me separately and letโs chat.
