Two Canadians selected in the minor league phase of the Rule 5 draft:
-C Archer Brookman (Pointe-Claire, Que.) was selected by the Braves from the Tigers
-INF/OF Matt Lloyd (Okotoks, Alta.) was selected by the Red Sox from the Cardinals.
Thanks to @CDNBaseballHOF for heads up.
The Cleveland Guardians, who in July were 15.5 games back of Detroit, have won the American League Central and will host the Tigers in the wild card series.
The other AL wild card series will feature the Boston Red Sox and, barring a collapse by Toronto, the New York Yankees.
The @Cubs are reportedly calling up their No. 18 prospect, Jack Neely, for what would be his MLB debut.
Neely, a 6-foot-8 right-hander acquired from the Yankees at the Deadline, has a 2.42 ERA this season: https://t.co/u2ZQ82fHFa
I am hearing the that Astros #4 prospect, 1B/3B Zach Dezenzo, is in Arlington with the team, per sources.
No word on what the corresponding move will be.
