The Unions of Lee Enterprises denounces plans by @LeeEntNews to sell The Southern Illinoisan paper to Paxton Media Group under terms that will eliminate all @thesouthern journalists who currently work for it. Read our full statement on this VERY bad deal: https://t.co/R9LPAJ16jH
@Gannett says it wants to "save local journalism” but refuses to value local journalism (and journalists) by investing $10,000 more in Jacksonville over a two-year period — eminently doable for a company that will get $2.75 billion in revenue this year.

This is a necessary and direct response to the unfair labor practices (ULP) that we have faced under @Gannett CEO Mike Reed. We are not alone in this experience, which is why hundreds of Gannett workers from across the country will be going ON STRIKE together beginning next week.
STATEMENT: The Star-Tribune on Sunday announced we're going down to a three-day print week. We were also told we're losing our last customer service representative.
Here's the Casper News Guild's response.
Welcome to the Denver Newspaper Guild! So excited to keep building political workers' power with y'all. Congratulations!! 💪💪 #1u#UnionsForAll#UnionStrong
One and all are invited to the @TimesUnionGuild rally at noon Friday at James Weldon Johnson Park in downtown Jacksonville. We are seeking public support for local journalism and a fair contract with our owner, @gannett. Please come and learn about our crusade!

Non-management employees of Southeast Alaska Conservation Council won their union today, garnering the majority of votes to formally establish SEACC United — now part of CWA Local 37074.
I've worked 25 years covering news in Jacksonville. It's a job I love. I've always believed I work for the readers. Now we are asking our readers to support us in our fight to support local journalism by demanding @gannett support its local journalists.

We don’t have to live this way. Defend workers, pass the PRO Act & hold corporations accountable.
CALL TO ACTION: We are fighting for a fair contract and need your support. Please email the contacts below and tell @PublishingAdams to offer us a living wage! @newsguild#mtnews
We've been bargaining with Adams Publishing since July, but they continue to insist on paying their journalist's poverty wages. We need a fair contract now.
