@nee_massey I love this part of San Francisco. I come here a lot on weekends after I drop my wife off at work. There’s a great farmers market on Sundays. Sometimes I walk down to the bridge. I love that you love this.
@nee_massey That’s beautiful, Stuart. Thanks for sharing this. We have an amorous Mockingbird that’s been serenading us here in Berkeley - looking for his Papagena. We’ve been cheering him on.
@paranoiacs And it’s a tragedy that so many of their early albums are hard to find. California is a masterpiece - and Somewhere will always be on my top 10 list. I met Mark once at the bar at King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow back in 1992. He was an absolute gent.
@EPButler Xenocrates’ number feels like it has a distant affinity with Deleuze’s concept of a virtual object. Except that Xenocrates grounds number in a pre-ontological identity and Deleuze in a primal play of difference.
@HistoryBoomer I agree with you 100%. But newspapers used to understand this too. Which is why they hired copy editors. Now, apparently, they don’t. Which is lamentable. It’s possible to agree with you and still think that this is unacceptable.
@JakeRudh There are some great songs here - especially Texarkana, Belong, and Country Feedback. But many other tracks were weak. It was the first R.E.M album that really disappointed me. It transformed me from a passionate fan into a casual one.
