HPV-independent adenocarcinoma, gastric-type:
- AKA Adenoma Malignum, Minimal Deviation Adenocarcinoma
- Cytologically very similar to normal endocervix
One study found the following helpful to make the cytologic distinction:
- Microvesicular cytoplasm
- Honeycomb-like sheets
- Prominent nucleoli
- Anisonucleosis
- Characteristic, but rare: yellow cytoplasmic mucin
