Brain Builders Youth Development Initiative has received funding from the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives for SheBuilds AI: Building Africa's Next Generation of Women Artificial Intelligence Innovators.
The project runs in Kaduna State from July 2026 to April 2028.
Young women and girls in Kaduna meet a stacked set of barriers on the way into technology work. Device ownership is low, cost is prohibitive, mobility is restricted, and the field is widely read as male.
SheBuilds AI fellows will train in AI tools, prompt engineering, data literacy and digital entrepreneurship, alongside critical thinking, financial literacy and public speaking. They will then build AI solutions for problems they have identified in their own communities, with the strongest going on to further development support.
Our thanks to the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives and the High Commission of Canada in Nigeria.
