Y’all love reducing Delilah to a cautionary tale when the truth is she outsmarted Samson….the strongest man alive.
Jezebel didn’t terrify men because she was ‘evil.’ She terrified them because she ruled without permission.
If you’re attracted to women like them, it’s because you like women who are brilliant and take life by the horns.
good for you.
"Feminism continues to be seen as less urgent, less life-and-death important than race or class, even though the subjugation of the female kills people with impunity every single day. Even though rape is so widespread and unpunished that a presidential candidate can boast of it.
April is #sexualassaultawarnenessmonth so we’re sharing this again.
Daughters of Eve (@DOEFilm) on @Tubi does an incredible job of detailing how so much sexual abuse is overlooked in scripture.
I hope more sermons address this during this month.
TW: Sexual Violence
The story of King David and Bathsheba is a prime example of abuse of power and sexual violence. (2 Samuel 11)
We have to do a better job of centering the women in these stories.

Happy Resurrection Sunday 💕💕
I was always the one arguing with my pastors, even when my friends were elbowing me to shut up.
“If God made Deborah a military leader, why would God say no to women leading people spiritually?”
They never have me a good answer for that.
2. Deborah
I was baptized Methodist so when LCMS pastors at my school told me that women were not allowed to preach, I had a real problem with that, even as an evangelical. (LCMS and evangelicals are distinct, but my youth group experience had some shared parallels.)
1. Hagar
My friends know how much I love her. I have been fascinated by her since I was a child. Entering into womanist theology centered around Hagar was a rebirth, a renewed appreciation for a character that touched my heart.
Someday I would love to write a book about Hagar.
I can think of nothing more Christlike than of a mother and the breaking of her body to bring life.
I can think of few things more divine than food provided by her body to nourish life.
I was raised in a church that believed in strict gender roles, women were to submit, men were to dominate— and anyone who did not fit into those rigid gender norms was told that they were ungodly and unChristian.
