@nntaleb Imagine casting Iranians as intolerants when Iran still has Zoroastrians. Name one mainstream (so no Mari/Sami) pre Christian group which had a continuous presence in Europe. On the other hand Zionism is on track to wipe out 1400-2000 years of religious identity/tradition.
@SuppressedNws@DalrympleWill This doesn't even register on Israelis' radar. They remember/commemorate any Palestinian crime but completely memory hole the constant (literally over 100x as much) Israeli crimes and abuses. For them every Palestinian crime happens in a vacuum.
@Th_Angelopoulos Not only that, but they cast Persians as evil and Spartans as good when in reality it was the opposite. Spartans enslaved Helots and treated them brutally. Not only that but Helots were Geeek, indigenous Laconians, which was unthinkable to do so to other Greeks.
@runliftrunlift Sprinting making you buff is sort of like basketball making you tall. Sprinters are not buff because they sprint, they sprint because they are buff (high % of fast twitch fibres).
@bell00david Oh yes, the good ol' comparing the risk of death from normal distributions to fat tailed ones. I remember people calling early covid panic irrational because only a handful died while seasonal flu killed more.
@kamilkazani The same mentality is overtly evident in the miniseriea The Spy. Apparently even to Hollywood leftwing leaning Jews Israel taking the Golan Heights is justified/punishment because Syria executed one of its spies (while they snipe people queueing on food lines).
@kamilkazani No coincidence there. Israel is an Eastern European project. The irony is that Israelis succeeded where Eastern Europeans failed: to be seen as westerners.
@CoachDanGo Garmin/Coros are more accurate.
And in practice the fitter you are the more calories you burn. You can go longer and harder. Burn fat instead of glycogen which you end up replenishing by over eating. If you aren't fit you can't burn 2k+ calories a day.
@nntaleb Such a masquarade. Israelis pretending to be universalists when they are clearly not to a bunch of westerners part of the same hypocrisy -- the UN in a nutshell.
@nntaleb It's past persecution and its 20th century climax. Similar to how the bully is a victim because he had a rough childhood, or better yet, a victim because his grandfather had a rough childhood.
@nntaleb@gnuseibeh Historically illiterate, while mentioning "our people" and holy sites that have been under Muslim rule for over a millennium. In the 12th and 13th century heretics from W Europe sought refuge in Al Andalus and East Med where there was religious tolerance.
@nntaleb Even domestic anti-regime are prolly against because of skin in the game. They may want the regime dismantled, but want it organically, from within. Dismantling from outside invites anarchy to which they prefer current affairs.
