So far zero members of the Senate Judiciary Committee have asked questions during this hearing on the crack-powder cocaine sentencing disparity about whether it even makes sense to criminalize the health issue of drug use in the first place.
BREAKING: Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont just signed a marijuana legalization bill into law.
This is the fourth state to legalize cannabis so far this year.
The new law takes effect on July 1.

IMHO -- we need to reevaluate "Cannabis Use Disorder" from scratch (it has 'War on Drugs' roots). Need modern definition of CUD that eg. doesn't include "tolerance & withdrawal" for the millions of medical patients who get over-diagnosed, as Big Pharma designs treatments for CUD.
Since #Nixon declared a “war on drugs,” drug offenses have become the leading cause of arrests in the US, according to @DrugPolicyOrg. In 2019, more than 1.5 million arrests were made due to drug law violations. #CrossConnection

As Amazon adjust its own employment policies around cannabis, Hawaii's medical cannabis patients can still be fired or not offered a position because of lawful cannabis use. Auwe! #Hawaii#HInews
🚨🚨BREAKING: The CA Senate just passed our legislation to decriminalize psychedelics! 🎉
To everyone who made calls, shared, posted, told their stores: You did this! Let’s keep up the fight & momentum. We need to end the failed War on Drugs.
Thank you, colleagues! #SB519
Ever wonder why doctors are so far behind patients on #cannabis? Why they have been on the wrong side of the War on Drugs? This is part of the answer. https://t.co/VPrznylH7n
It's ridiculous that companies are still testing job applicants for marijuana.
As a CEO, I couldn't care less if employees smoke a joint or drink a glass of wine when they're off the clock. How they want to spend their time off work is up to them.

The #SAFEBanking Act now has 38 cosponsors in the Senate, with Sen. Chris Coons—described by NYT this week as one of President Biden’s "closest confidants” in Congress—signing on to the marijuana banking bill.

#PBSInsights The Legislature just declared racism a public health crisis. What measures will the Legislature forward next year to reduce the toll that criminalizing substance use & mental health problems has on Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, & Filipinx residents? @pbshawaii
#PBSInsights@pbshawaii 80% of Hawaii's Senate voted to legalize adult-use cannabis this year. Why didn't it receive a hearing in the House Health or Judiciary committees? Why allow committee chairs the broad discretion to exercise a pocket veto? #Hawaii
