I'm good at pretending I know what neutral is. Honorary Axl gang member.
Used to skip neutral with Raven in Xrd and now I'm skipping neutral with Andy in COTW.
I was thinking about what cosplay to bring for Dokomi Friday and this art suddenly showed up on my timeline a day before my departure for the event.
It gave me an idea.
Command grab and overheads felt quite a bit more rare with the release roster and now it seems like characters can't be released without them.
This is the second character after Joe who got a mixup stance for whatever reason. Krauser getting an overhead was also really ??? to me.
I don't know how much I like Karate yet, but I'm not a huge fan of how almost all DLC characters have to have some kind of sick overhead or command grab, quite often even both at the same time?
Locking them behind stance on top of that is getting pretty old to me too.
Conclusion:
This might've honestly been more of a Final SPG rant than rant about top tiers of the current meta.
Nerf Final and Flux SPG, it's been way too long. Thanks.
I've been noticing something with Andy. Many rounds I'm winning and then the opponent gets final SPG and turns it around.
The combination of the top tiers like Big, Preecha or Gato having insane offense + Andy's offense being basic + fireballs being weaker with REV blow is hard.
Overall Andy does trade the explosiveness of Gato/Big/Preecha for more control over neutral, but the combination of them + final SPG does sometimes make it feel like I'm getting robbed pretty often.
It's hard to keep the control over neutral with rev blows + cheap EXs.
@UILazarus No no no, I'm not saying people shouldn't do it. I think it is to be expected and just the way things are really. It's a part of competition. Just because I get annoyed by these things once in a while doesn't mean there's anything to apologise for.
First world problem and I am really not much of a top player to suffer from it that badly, but god, I hate how once you become a "top level gamer", you gotta treat every online match like EVO grand finals, because if you dare lose, everyone will go "yoooo what a shocking upset!!"
I might catch some flak for these tweets and I might come off as a bit of a sore loser, in the end there really is a bit of ego playing a role there, but I honestly do get slightly tired of feeling like I have some target on my back at all times.
In the end, it is an ego thing and as a competitor you should just ignore it and deal with it, but I do kinda miss the times when I could just randomly boot up my stream, join an online bracket and just play a videogame without feeling like I'm playing some sick importang sets.
Brussels this year as a COTW player was really cool!
Fun little 2v2 bracket on Friday, plentiful head to head setups even for pools, all stations ran flawlessly lag-wise and audio-wise (after a quick fix on early Friday) and reasonably priced waffles.
I will come back next year!
We had a blast organizing Brussels Challenge this year, we did try new things (head-to-head setup, more freeplay setups/times) and we are very happy the feedbacks on so far, here is the official feedback form: https://t.co/C3keXVYL8e
Thank you for taking the time to answer it!
